Seismicity Studies al<strong>on</strong>g Kopili Lineament<br />

Seismicity m<strong>on</strong>itoring around Kopili lineament in Assam valley since 2007 is<br />

in progress with the installati<strong>on</strong> of a nine stati<strong>on</strong> broadband seismological<br />

stati<strong>on</strong> network by Nati<strong>on</strong>al Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad. This<br />

study reveals the seismicity distributi<strong>on</strong>, orientati<strong>on</strong> of the Kopili fault,<br />

average P-­‐wave velocity of this regi<strong>on</strong> and b value. <strong>The</strong> 1-­‐D P wave velocity<br />

structure has been determined using VELEST inversi<strong>on</strong> and the velocity<br />

model is c<strong>on</strong>spicuous with a P-­‐ wave low velocity layer at 26-­‐30 km depth<br />

and the Moho is at 41 km depth. In this study a total of 300 local<br />

earthquakes were recorded in the vicinity of Kopili lineament during the<br />

three and a half years period 2007-­‐2011of the network operati<strong>on</strong> and were
