Summer Search Volunteer Opportunities
CAREER COACHING
Time commitment = Approx. 3--5 hours/month from Dec—May
Work directly with Summer Search alumni around writing résumés and cover letters, applying
for internships, and navigating the process of beginning a career. Help them understand and
build the hard and soft skills necessary to succeed.
SOPHOMORE PREPARATION
Time commitment = Two Saturday mornings in the spring
Help our sophomores prepare for the challenges of their wilderness trips! Volunteer to facilitate
our Sophomore Orientation Workshop and support the 3-Mile Run as a running buddy or a
start/finish line supporter.
SPREADING THE WORD
Time commitment = Three hours/event
Partner with Summer Search staff, students and alumni to host a small event at your home or a
lunch at your office to introduce Summer Search to your friends, family, and co-workers.
OFFICE SUPPORT WITH STUDENTS
Time commitment = Approx. 3--5 hours/project
Work side-by-side with Summer Search students to provide administrative support in the
Summer Search office. Help stuff envelopes for mailings, assemble care packages for alumni in
their first year of college, and other occasional opportunities.
FALL EVENT & SPRING EVENT
Time commitment = Approx. 5 hours/event
Assist with set-up, registration and the family potluck at our student celebration events in the
fall and spring. Join our students and their families as we acknowledge the amazing
accomplishments of all our Summer Searchers.
SIGNATURE EVENT FUNDRAISING
Time commitment = Approx. 4--8 hours/event
Solicit your corporate and individual contacts to sponsor our signature fundraising events in the
spring and fall in San Francisco, North San Francisco Bay, and Silicon Valley.
