Trade Support
Legitimate and compliant trade is fostered by efficient border regulation
New Zealand’s ability to trade with the rest of the world is dependent on the confidence of our trading partners
that we are a secure country, with reliable and efficient border processes that impose the minimum possible cost
on legitimate trade, and a framework of trade agreements that create workable rules to govern trade between
nations. Customs has a major role in ensuring international trade negotiations work for the benefit of New Zealand
by ensuring they result in efficient trade processes based on undertakings that can be practically implemented and
effectively enforced.
