(B) Fr<strong>en</strong>ch Delegation<br />
In early <strong>2010</strong>, we received the request from the Ministry of Health (Quebec) to meet a<br />
Fr<strong>en</strong>ch delegation mandated to study the Quebec model for m<strong>en</strong>tal health interv<strong>en</strong>tions in<br />
the workplace. Dr. Harnois also repres<strong>en</strong>ted the position of the WHO on the subject.<br />
(C) World Atlas on intellectual defici<strong>en</strong>cy<br />
In November 2009, the Montreal <strong>CC</strong> was awarded the prize for international influ<strong>en</strong>ce.<br />
The International Recognition Award is op<strong>en</strong> to all sectors of public administration in Quebec<br />
(Public Service, Education networks, Cities and Health and Social Services) and is awarded to<br />
an administrative unit that designed a project that provides its organization with an<br />
international outreach.<br />

(3) Canadian M<strong>en</strong>tal Health Commission - Governm<strong>en</strong>t of Canada<br />
In October 2009, the Douglas <strong>Institut</strong>e received the Honourable Michael Kirby, chairman of<br />
the board of directors of the Canadian M<strong>en</strong>tal Health Commission. The Commission will aim<br />
in the next year to mobilize the developm<strong>en</strong>t of a social movem<strong>en</strong>t called “m<strong>en</strong>tal health<br />
partners" to address issues about m<strong>en</strong>tal health and stigma that it undergoes.<br />
In January <strong>2010</strong>, the Douglas <strong>Institut</strong>e welcomed two members of the Commission on M<strong>en</strong>tal<br />
Health: Louise Bradley, COO, and Phil Upshall, Advisor, Stakeholder Relations. The purpose<br />
of their visit was to develop relationships with key partners in m<strong>en</strong>tal health in Quebec,<br />
including the Douglas. During this busy day, they were able to exchange ideas with many<br />
players here and take stock of the level of expertise in terms of research and pati<strong>en</strong>t care.<br />
(4) Global Business Roundtable - Governm<strong>en</strong>t of Canada and the United States<br />
In <strong>2008</strong>, the <strong>CC</strong> was involved to two meetings organized jointly by Dr. Quirion<br />
(Director of the Douglas Research C<strong>en</strong>ter, and of the Canadian <strong>Institut</strong>e of<br />
Neurosci<strong>en</strong>ces, M<strong>en</strong>tal Health and Addiction) and by Mr. Bill Wilkerson, director of<br />
the Global Business Roundtable. These meetings repres<strong>en</strong>ted a colaboration betwe<strong>en</strong><br />
the Governm<strong>en</strong>ts of Canada and of the U.S., and aimed to develop the thinking on<br />
the subject.<br />
Research C<strong>en</strong>ter of the Douglas M<strong>en</strong>tal Health University <strong>Institut</strong>e<br />
Researchers at the <strong>Institut</strong>e continue to receive grants at a pace that exceeds that of similar<br />
c<strong>en</strong>ters: 18 million dollars were awarded in 2009-<strong>2010</strong>. The <strong>Institut</strong>e has signed two new<br />
research agreem<strong>en</strong>ts, with the <strong>Institut</strong>e of Neurobiology of the Mediterranean (INMRD) of<br />
France and the Howard Florey <strong>Institut</strong>e (HFI) of Australia.<br />
The <strong>Institut</strong>e has also signed a collaborative agreem<strong>en</strong>t with the Yale Program for Recovery<br />
and Community Health (USA): The agreem<strong>en</strong>t includes research, education and training<br />
