DEALING WITH VIOLENT<br />

PATRONS PROCESS<br />

1. Any workers witnessing or informed of intimidation or violence are to<br />

alert security<br />

2. Security staff to break up the fight or engage the patrons involved in<br />

discussion to de-escalate the situation<br />

3. The patrons are to be taken outside by security, the victim should be escorted<br />

outside first and given the opportunity to leave before the perpetrator is<br />

escorted outside.<br />

4. In the case of physical assault, police are to be notified and the<br />

perpetrator charged.<br />

5. At no stage can offending patrons be allowed back into the venue<br />

during the event.<br />

POLICE CONTACT<br />

Contact police when:<br />

• There has been an assault: Give details of the assault, how many involved,<br />

any injuries etc. The perpetrator may be charged by police regardless of whether<br />

the victim wants to charge them or not.<br />

• Weapons or drugs have been confiscated (if concerned with person’s behaviour).<br />

• There are concerns about an intoxicated person being a danger to themselves<br />

or others.<br />

• There is fighting on or off the premises.<br />

• A person who is trespassing refuses to leave the premises.<br />

• A civil arrest has been made.<br />

• If there are any general queries or concerns that cannot be answered by<br />

event management.<br />
