Editorial ::
Dear Reader,
“I have very simple taste: I am always
satisfi ed with the best!” As Oscar Wilde
is reported to have said. An exceptional
hotel with exceptional cuisine and
exceptional service will then of course
not be content with the commonplace
when deciding on a carpet.
To consistently meet a demand such as
this means not making the path from a
vision to reality an easy route. It was a
fascinating experience to work with
professionals who are masters of their
trade and to get really involved with
them in developing individual solutions
together, step by step. All our expectations
are now more than fulfi lled. I
would therefore like to thank the staff of
Halbmond Teppichwerke, who have
supported us proactively in literally
providing our hotel with a new “base”
for success for of our hotel.
See for yourself on the following pages
the full extent of the success that our
“simple taste” has created. I hope you
have a lot of fun!
Yours
“ Perfection can really be fun – working together with a
team of specialists and with guests who enjoy quality,
shows me everyday that it was worth the expense!”
Michael Pattis, in charge of Management and Marketing
Regal comfort for body, spirit and soul: In the
Romantic Hotel & Restaurant Pattis Mario Pattis,
the fi rst star-rated chef in Saxony, serves
up extraordinary regional cuisine in the original
menu sequence of the Saxon royal court.
On Meissener porcelain of course. Guests enjoy
Ayurvedic massage, go for saunas in the
Ottoman steam bath and relax in the aromatic
In each room there is a revolving
parquet frieze which differs depending
on the size of the area and the
furnishing. Similarly the patterns of
the carpets differ.
Putting visions down on paper: At the beginning of
the collaboration Frank Pattis sketched a DIN A1 size
collage, which Halbmond Teppichwerke has used as
a template for designing patterns.
steam grotto or during cosmetic treatments.
They also stay overnight in elegantly furnished
rooms and suites which leave nothing to
be desired from the overall room concept,
through to the most minute detail.
Now even the fl oor composition is exemplary,
which has been especially co-ordinated to
the Art Nouveau atmosphere of the furniture
and decoration, by working closely with Frank
Pattis. In total 1,110 m 2 of carpets, which were
individually designed in their pattern and required
a special installation technique to the
particularities of the corridors and individual
rooms, were installed.
The hotel is part of the 200 personally managed
Romantic Hotels & Restaurants International
across Germany and presents the
congeniality of a lovingly managed family
business at the highest level. In combining
the generations there has been success, with
responsibility and dedication, in reconciling a
harmonious accord to the past which is rich
in tradition and modern hospitality – visitors
to Dresden can look forward to a perfect living
experience here, only a few minutes away
from the city centre.

Multiplexkino Wroclaw Pasaz Grunwaldzki, Poland ::
Action!
Life – in motion
Whether the Terminator is coming, a dramatic love story develops on the sinking Titanic or Disney
characters capture the hearts of young and old: The screens of multiplex cinemas show life in
motion, attracting the most various types of visitors. It’s no easy task to satisfy all target groups
and and at the same same time fulfi l the expectations of the operating company, who expect that a carpet
doesn’t just have a perfect appearance but also a high level of resilience.
Light display outside the cinema hall:
The interior design offers the right
foretaste for the movie experience.

“ Dream world and reality come together ideally in the
Multiplexkino Wroclaw Pasaz Grunwaldzki – the overall
interior architecture of the interior results in a ‘light play
theatre’ a perfect exterior form.”
Dariusz Urbaniak, Carpet Installer
Since the concept of moving pictures, cinemas
have been opening up a path into a
dream world of suspense, romance, fantasy
and action to their audience. Today modern
multiplex cinemas like the one in Wroclaw in
Poland show fi lms in 20 halls at the same
time. However, even if with regard to size,
technology and services, many changes
have been made but the fundamental essence
is still what was earlier termed “light
play theatre”. The cinema in the Trade Centre
Wroclaw Pasaz Grunwaldzki now lives up to
this concept with its atmosphere.
The large-scale designed
pattern was able to be
installed in strips – an economic
as well as technically
effi cient procedure.
A fascinating architecture with artifi cial and
natural lighting creates a foretaste of the experience
to come, even from the very fi rst
glance. While the light has a playful aspect,
a natural fl owing movement arises from the
curved shaped walls, ceilings and the entire
interior. The fundamental geometric shape of
the interior design fi nds ellipsis again in the
pattern of the carpet.
As with all Halbmond Teppichwerke productions,
the overlapping strip designed pattern
has worked again, without inlays. Instead of
“puzzle parts“, all surfaces can be
relatively easily and effi ciently installed in
with precise pattern repeats, but also according
to the plans which have been developed
together with the carpet installer Monti. Rolls
for ease of intallation.
Presence ::
The patterns of the Halbmond trade fair stand at
DOMOTEX have been very different in the last few
years but still always have one thing in common:
They are pleasing. The bright colours and fancy patterns
show the customer that Halbmond Teppichwerke
can put any idea and effect on a carpet.
“Transgress the narrow constraints of a standardised world
and give your imagination free rein.” This is how it is, not
just in Step by Step 2 but also on the trade fair runners
which Halbmond Teppichwerke presented this year at the
specialist fair, CASA, in Salzburg. A motto which also gives
Johanna Hartung inspiration: In the Get2Gether sector
artists known for their creative “pouring technique” used
plain carpets as the canvas for their colourful textile work,
which were placed at the feet of the astonished visitors to
the trade fair.
“At events such as the autumn meeting at the Flairhotels,
Top Supply and of course INTERNORGA people
come together who have one common interest: offering
their guests only the best. Their feedback is fundamental
for the further development of our company.”
Thomas Mundt, Property Manager Rheinland-Pfalz,
Hessen, Saarland
8 | The Carpet Magazine 12
We’re there
where you are!
Customer contact is very important to the team of Halbmond Teppichwerke.
Manufacturers are represented at the important trade fairs of the sector. Sometimes
large, sometimes small, but always with an unusual, eye-catching appearance!
It is a tradition: the DOMOTEX trade fair runners by
HTW Design Carpet, which this time were completely characterised
by nature. “Forest Fantasy exhibits an interaction
of abstract fl ora with elements of the indigenous fauna,
which together create a cheerful, spring like fantasy forest.”,
explains Sigrid Neumann, the designer in charge of this
year’s concept. “the small cosmos and the friendly entities
which populate it, refer discreetly to the topic of ecology.
And to the careful handling of nature and its resources.”

Step by Step 2 :: Research and Technology ::
From an idea to
reality
Dear Reader,
If I seem familiar then you have probably seen me at the DOMOTEX trade
fair stand. On the fi rst pages of the Step by Step 2 books hot off the presses
for the trade fair I shall take you through the idea of the reality of carpets
produced from draft ideas. I will then leave you alone: with your creativity.
And with innovative pattern ideas which have imaginative names like “Pixel
Poetry”, “Lemon Crystals” and “Velvet Kingdom”. I could see while taking
pictures that the designers from Halbmond Teppichwerke put a lot of their
heart and soul into these collections. All parties concerned did their utmost
to make the image concept created in the run-up as realistic as possible. In
any case I would be delighted if you rediscover a part of this commitment
in the images and patterns from Step by Step 2 and hope that you have as
much fun with them as we did!
Best wishes,
Franca
The patterns shown in the Step by
Step 2 presentation book should
awake your creativity. Nothing is
compulsory, compulsory, everything is possible.
Close to customers,
close to the market
As Tesa is to the adhesive fi lm sector or
Tempo to the paper handkerchief sector,
which is what Aquafi l is to the thread sector:
Manufacturers of fi rst-class carpets use the
name as a synonym for high quality polyamide
6 BFC fi bres.
The Italian thread manufacturer certainly
owes its prominent position to expertise and
also its proximity to its market and customers.
In the Carpet Centre in Arco on Lake
Garda Aquafi l employees work regularly with
customer representatives. And also with
Halbmond technicians and designers who
regularly give accounts of their practical experience
with the Fibre brands, Aqualon, Alto
and Alto Chroma and thus create the basis
for specifi c further development.
New items ite are also brought together, mak-
ing the Carpet Centre a creative hotbed of
the high highest h level. No matter how fancy print
or main maintenance n properties are to be: Aquafi l
does
eeverything
to fulfi l market expecta-
ti tions. o As a result an innovative carpet
mmanufacturer
such as Halbmond Teppichwerke
p can meet the wishes of its
customers cus c without restriction.
Grand Resort, Limassol, Cyprus ::
In seventh heaven
on carpet
With each beat they move closer to the couple who are in the middle of the room in each others arms, moving
to the music: the beaming faces of friends and relatives. Until the guests are fi nally close enough to both
dancers to pin banknotes on their clothes ...
10 | The Carpet Magazine 12
Impressively large, impressively versatile: The Grand
Hall creates the right setting for different events.

In Cypriot weddings it is a custom to give
the bridal couple fi nancial support during an
opening dance – this is also celebrated even
at this noisy party in the event hall on Cyprus.
If you have seen the “Grand Hall” at the Grand
Resort, which is imaginatively decorated with
a great attention to detail and have witnessed
the euphoric atmosphere, you could scarcely
believe that here a few days ago around 1200
conference participants were listening to various
speeches.
Design: Stavri Papasavva and Halbmond Teppichwerke
If you like this scene you must be a
devotee of individual holidays: The
Grand Resort is not in any all-inclusive
arrangements and cannot be booked
via travel agent, no matter how
exclusive.
“Whether it is the business travelers or a bridal
couple: our guests are of course welcome
in equal measure”, says Hotel Manager Haris
Theoharous, “However it is always very special
to arrange a wedding banquet and see
how happy the people are.” It’s not exactly
rare, since the exquisite romantic furnishings
and the exclusive location of the fi ve star
luxury hotel brings guests from all over the
world to start their honeymoon in the Grand
Resort. You can’t blame them: watching the
sunset together, whose fascinating play of
light breaks in the gently rippling sea is just
dreamy!
“ Halbmond Teppichwerke has impressively shown that
carpets offer more than creative possibilities than any
other fl oor covering.” Stavri Papasavva, Interior Designer
The Carpet Magazine: “Ms Papasavva,
as interior designer you are responsible for
the choice of fl oor covering. Is carpet in a
Mediterranean region not very unusual?“
Stavri Papasavva: “Well, the philosophy
of the Grand Resort is to distinguish itself
from the rest. I am also convinced that
many people appreciate the way carpet
feels underfoot and its soft backdrop. Especially
in a 5-star hotel.”
The Carpet Magazine: “Was it diffi cult
to convince the hotel manager of your
idea?”
Stavri Papasavva: “Actually no. Mr Theoharous
is someone who really places a lot
of emphasis on his hotel’s image. Unfortunately
in fl oor layout sector to date has
been very limited. Since this design facility
in carpet exists at Halbmond Teppichwerke
we were able to freely create the
covering right to the very last thread, and
this facility convinced him immediately”.
