Future training needs<br />
<strong>Presenters</strong> were asked to reflect on future training needs in relation to trends they believe will<br />
affect the industry in the next five years (see Industry trends above). These are the needs they<br />
signalled:<br />
• Artistic:<br />
• Ongoing artistic appreciation – to keep up with new genres and disciplines<br />
• Exposure to new artists and art forms through showcase events<br />
• Management:<br />
• Market analysis – skills to enable presenters to compete effectively for market share with<br />
other entertainment options – a requirement ever more pressing as show sizes and ticket<br />
prices increase<br />
• Technical:<br />
• Introduction to new technologies, audio and visual advances, and Internet applications<br />
(e.g., for marketing, publicity, identifying artists).<br />
• Box-office and ticketing software training<br />
• How to use and benefit from Internet technologies<br />
• How to keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies<br />
• How to adapt venues to accommodate larger, more technologically advanced shows<br />
