Rebuilt or Repaired Transmission Assemblies 

Somerford Mini does not offer a rebuild or repair service for automatic transmissions other than 

superficial repairs not involving the internal workings, because of the cost of the necessary 

specialist equipment and the relatively few numbers of customers for automatic transmission work. 

We advise customers requiring rebuilds or repairs to deal directly with an automatic transmission 

specialist - we can point you in the right direction, if required. We should also mention we carry 

out automatic to manual power unit transplants in our workshops - automatic engines are 

unique and will not fit a manual gearbox, so both engine and transmission are changed. This 

apparently drastic measure actually frequently represents a very cost-effective way to get your Mini 

back up and running when otherwise faced with huge bills for automatic transmission repair. 

We do not hold comprehensive stocks of automatic transmission internal components. Instead we 

limit ourselves to parts which by our own experience we consider may be fitted successfully by our 

customers - and even then, sometimes only by the more e xperienced. As always, though, if there’s 

anything else you require, please contact us and if it’s available we will obtain it for you.
