rehearsals without these buttons. <strong>School</strong>s commuting must be registered<br />

in the same manner; names listed on the registration form and fee paid, with a notation<br />

that they are not registered in motels.<br />

CHAIR-PLACEMENT AUDITIONING PROCEDURES<br />

All-State Orchestra : All orchestra members report to assigned audition rooms in the<br />

Scheman Building before 3 P.M. Thursday afternoon. Room assignments will be included<br />

in the students music folders. Rooms 220, 230, and 240 in the Scheman Building will be<br />

available at 2:45 p.m. for orchestra members to warm up. Members will be auditioned down<br />

to the last chair. Don’t forget music stands and pencils for rehearsals!!<br />

All-State Band : All band students report to Benton Auditorium in the Scheman Building<br />

before 5:00 p.m. Thursday. Announcements will be made promptly at 5:00 p.m. Members<br />

will be auditioned to the last chair. Don’t forget music stands and pencils for<br />

rehearsals!!<br />

Students found inadequately prepared at the Thursday chair-placement auditions will be<br />

permitted a re-hearing before a panel of three auditors at 8 A.M. Friday. Every effort will<br />

be made to have either a director or school representative present so dismissal, if necessary,<br />

can be attended to by the director/representative.<br />

All-State Chorus : Seating assignment cards will be placed in registration packets.<br />

Directors MUST obtain these prior to the first scheduled r e hearsal .<br />

REHEARSALS<br />

All groups will meet Friday morning at the following locations:<br />

Band ...................................................................Hilton Coliseum<br />

Orchestra ..................................Scheman Building, Rooms 220-240<br />

Chorus .................................................................C.Y. Stephens<br />

Rehearsals are also held Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday morning and afternoon.<br />

Attendance will be carefully checked at each rehearsal. Failure to attend all<br />

rehearsals will eliminate students from participation. Rehearsal schedules<br />

are interpreted as the actual starting time. Students should be in place at the designated<br />

time. <strong>No</strong> caps or hats are permitted at any rehearsal.<br />

TICKETS<br />

<strong>The</strong> ticket price will be $10. All seats are reserved. A group rate of $9 per ticket will<br />

be available on orders of 20 or more tickets ordered by a single purchaser. Send ticket<br />

orders to <strong>Iowa</strong> State Center, Ames, IA 50011. All orders received prior to October 28 will<br />

be held and processed on that date.<br />

ILLNESS<br />

<strong>The</strong> All-State Chair must be notified if illness should prevent participation in the All-State<br />

groups. Band members, or their director, should telephone John Aboud, Algona <strong>High</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong>; Orchestra members, or their director, should telephone Bruce Eilers of West<br />

<strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> of Waterloo. Chorus members, or their director, should telephone Dr. Greg<br />

Grove, City <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>, <strong>Iowa</strong> City.<br />
