from the Department of Education. MMS (BRIGHAM/PETERSON) to approve the registration
and penalty deadlines as proposed by the director. PASSED
MMS (DANNEN/MERZ) to move into closed session for discussion of the evaluation and
the continuing contract of the Executive Director. PASSED After returning to open session,
MMS (BRIGHAM/PETERSON) to extend a one-year contract, increasing the salary
by 3% to $64,890.00, increase mileage allotment to $.26 per mile, and retain all other elements
of the current contract. PASSED The Executive Director accepted the contract.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.

MINUTES OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
July 1, 2002
The Executive Committee of the Iowa High School Music Association met at 2:00 p.m.,
July 1, 2002, in Boston, MA, while in attendance at the National Federation Summer Convention.
Members present were: Thomas Nugent, Villisca; Frank Brigham, Oelwein; Steve
Colton, Marion; Tim Peterson, Charter Oak; and Tom Dannen, Truro. Jan Merz, Fort
Dodge, was absent. Also in attendance was Alan S Greiner, Executive Director, who
served as the recording secretary. President Nugent chaired the meeting.
MMS(PETERSON/BRIGHAM) to approve the minutes of the April 17, 2002, meeting as
printed and distributed. PASSED
MMS(BRIGHAM/DANNEN) to approve the financial bills as submitted. PASSED
Director Greiner presented the Year End Summary, highlighting each of the festivals of
2001-2002.
The director presented a detailed budget proposal for the 2002-2003 fiscal year.
MMS(DANNEN/PETERSON) to approve the 2002-2003 Administrative Budget as presented.
PASSED This motion increases the Solo/Small Ensemble Registration Fee to
$7.50 per entry, increases the Secretarial and Custodial allowances for Solo/Small Ensemble
Festival to $60 and $20 per center respectively and leaves all other registration
fees and allotments at previous levels. For 2002-2003, these will be:

Jazz Band - $70.00 Piano - $9.00
