<strong>The</strong> Women’s <strong>Auxiliary</strong> consists of 11 branches<br />

including women of all ages, backgrounds and life<br />

experience. We encourage new members to select a<br />

branch that best meets her needs. You may join any<br />

branch you wish. Each division is unique in its<br />

location, size, demographics, special projects and<br />

dues structure. <strong>The</strong>y each meet at various dates and<br />

frequency and support different events or projects at<br />

the <strong>Hospital</strong>.<br />

Women’s <strong>Auxiliary</strong> to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong><br />

<strong>The</strong> Women’s <strong>Auxiliary</strong> to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong><br />

was founded in 1893, just one year after the <strong>Hospital</strong>’s<br />

founding. <strong>The</strong> volunteer group was organized for the<br />

purpose of extending the interests of the <strong>Hospital</strong> to<br />

all parts of the <strong>County</strong> and to raise funds for erecting,<br />

furnishing and maintaining the <strong>Hospital</strong>. It also<br />

rendered personal services to the <strong>Hospital</strong> through<br />

<strong>Hospital</strong>-<strong>Auxiliary</strong> coordinated programs. Today,<br />

with a membership in the hundreds, it continues to<br />

raise friends and funds for the <strong>Hospital</strong>. Each year,<br />

the Women’s <strong>Auxiliary</strong> raises in excess of $500,000<br />

through various special events and projects.<br />

RETAIL<br />

Women’s <strong>Auxiliary</strong> Gift Shop (WAGS)<br />

WAGS features a wonderful assortment of unique<br />

jewelry, affordable and distinctive gift items, greeting<br />

cards and fresh flowers. As a destination point for all<br />

gift giving, WAGS features merchandise for birthdays,<br />

new baby, holidays and much more. <strong>The</strong> shop hosts a<br />

variety of special events throughout the year. Located<br />

on the first floor of the North Pavilion, the Gift Shop is<br />

open daily.<br />

Cheermobile<br />

<strong>The</strong> Cheermobile is an <strong>Auxiliary</strong> project but is staffed<br />

by both <strong>Auxiliary</strong> members and <strong>Hospital</strong> volunteers.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Cheermobile sells magazines, papers, candy and<br />

gifts from a cart that visits patient rooms to bring<br />

cheer and provide them with small, needed sundries<br />

and reading materials.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Encore Shop<br />

Located in Kennett Square at the intersection of Routes 1<br />

and 52, this upscale consignment shop specializes in<br />

women’s and men’s clothing, jewelry, small antiques<br />

and glassware.<br />

EVENTS<br />

<strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong> Day<br />

Always the First Saturday in October<br />

<strong>The</strong> nation’s oldest home and site tour raises more than<br />

$100,000 each year for the <strong>Hospital</strong>. A tradition since<br />

1936, it attracts approximately 3,500 participants from<br />

all over the United States and Canada.<br />

FORE Health Golf Invitational<br />

Willistown <strong>Auxiliary</strong> & Benton Family Event – June<br />

This great day of golf includes a demonstration by PGA<br />

Tour Professional Sean O’Hair, great refreshments on and<br />

off the course and a silent auction, all for a great cause -<br />

Health Services for Women and Children at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>.<br />

Dilworthtown Inn Wine Festival<br />

Brandywine & Greystone <strong>Auxiliary</strong> Event<br />

Second Sunday in October<br />

Featuring the finest wines, fare, shopping, entertainment,<br />

silent auction and more, the Wine Festival is a must for<br />

food and wine enthusiasts and friends of <strong>The</strong> Cancer<br />

Program and Neighborhood Hospice.<br />

Polo Cup<br />

Turks Head <strong>Auxiliary</strong> Event – Second Sunday in June<br />

<strong>The</strong> Polo Cup is a divot-stomping, gourmet-eating, corkpopping,<br />

hoof-pounding, heart-racing, anything-butlazing-around<br />

Sunday afternoon party the whole family<br />

will enjoy! <strong>The</strong> elegant pageantry of a Polo Match is<br />

combined with a fun tailgating atmosphere, children's<br />

activities, face painting, and wonderful food for the<br />

entire family.<br />

St. Patty’s Day Beef • Beer • Boogie<br />

Greystone <strong>Auxiliary</strong> Event – March<br />

A celebration of Irish spirit, the Beef, Beer, Boogie pairs<br />

traditional St. Patty’s Day fare with Irish and local beers,<br />

a high energy band, dancing and a silent auction.<br />

Santa’s Workshop<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is something for everyone on Santa’s list at this<br />

holiday shopping event. Each auxiliary branch<br />

prepares their specialty from jewelry, scarves and<br />

ornaments to home-baked goodies and fresh floral<br />

arrangements. It’s the perfect opportunity to finish<br />

your shopping or get into the holiday spirit.<br />

May Festival<br />

Community and <strong>Hospital</strong> Event<br />

Members of the Women’s <strong>Auxiliary</strong> provide support<br />

for this fun three-day festival held on the grounds of<br />

the <strong>Hospital</strong> in May.<br />

SERVICE PROJECTS<br />

<strong>The</strong> women of the <strong>Auxiliary</strong> lend their support and<br />

compassion to make the environment of the <strong>Hospital</strong><br />

more comfortable for patients and employees. <strong>The</strong>y<br />

sew pillows for heart surgery patients, knit caps for<br />

newborns, and make hats for cancer patients. In<br />

addition they create meal tray favors for special<br />

occasions and holidays.<br />

SPECIAL EVENTS AND PROJECTS<br />

<strong>The</strong> women of the Auxiliaries host fashion shows,<br />

brunches, luncheons, trips, raffles, sales and holiday<br />

events throughout the year in support of the <strong>Hospital</strong>.<br />
