The Women’s Auxiliary consists of 11 branches
including women of all ages, backgrounds and life
experience. We encourage new members to select a
branch that best meets her needs. You may join any
branch you wish. Each division is unique in its
location, size, demographics, special projects and
dues structure. They each meet at various dates and
frequency and support different events or projects at
the Hospital.

Women’s Auxiliary to The Chester County Hospital
The Women’s Auxiliary to The Chester County Hospital
was founded in 1893, just one year after the Hospital’s
founding. The volunteer group was organized for the
purpose of extending the interests of the Hospital to
all parts of the County and to raise funds for erecting,
furnishing and maintaining the Hospital. It also
rendered personal services to the Hospital through
Hospital-Auxiliary coordinated programs. Today,
with a membership in the hundreds, it continues to
raise friends and funds for the Hospital. Each year,
the Women’s Auxiliary raises in excess of $500,000
through various special events and projects.
RETAIL
Women’s Auxiliary Gift Shop (WAGS)
WAGS features a wonderful assortment of unique
jewelry, affordable and distinctive gift items, greeting
cards and fresh flowers. As a destination point for all
gift giving, WAGS features merchandise for birthdays,
new baby, holidays and much more. The shop hosts a
variety of special events throughout the year. Located
on the first floor of the North Pavilion, the Gift Shop is
open daily.
Cheermobile
The Cheermobile is an Auxiliary project but is staffed
by both Auxiliary members and Hospital volunteers.
The Cheermobile sells magazines, papers, candy and
gifts from a cart that visits patient rooms to bring
cheer and provide them with small, needed sundries
and reading materials.
The Encore Shop
Located in Kennett Square at the intersection of Routes 1
and 52, this upscale consignment shop specializes in
women’s and men’s clothing, jewelry, small antiques
and glassware.
EVENTS
Chester County Day
Always the First Saturday in October
The nation’s oldest home and site tour raises more than
$100,000 each year for the Hospital. A tradition since
1936, it attracts approximately 3,500 participants from
all over the United States and Canada.
FORE Health Golf Invitational
Willistown Auxiliary & Benton Family Event – June
This great day of golf includes a demonstration by PGA
Tour Professional Sean O’Hair, great refreshments on and
off the course and a silent auction, all for a great cause -
Health Services for Women and Children at The Chester
County Hospital.
Dilworthtown Inn Wine Festival
Brandywine & Greystone Auxiliary Event
Second Sunday in October
Featuring the finest wines, fare, shopping, entertainment,
silent auction and more, the Wine Festival is a must for
food and wine enthusiasts and friends of The Cancer
Program and Neighborhood Hospice.
Polo Cup
Turks Head Auxiliary Event – Second Sunday in June
The Polo Cup is a divot-stomping, gourmet-eating, corkpopping,
hoof-pounding, heart-racing, anything-butlazing-around
Sunday afternoon party the whole family
will enjoy! The elegant pageantry of a Polo Match is
combined with a fun tailgating atmosphere, children's
activities, face painting, and wonderful food for the
entire family.
St. Patty’s Day Beef • Beer • Boogie
Greystone Auxiliary Event – March
A celebration of Irish spirit, the Beef, Beer, Boogie pairs
traditional St. Patty’s Day fare with Irish and local beers,
a high energy band, dancing and a silent auction.
Santa’s Workshop
There is something for everyone on Santa’s list at this
holiday shopping event. Each auxiliary branch
prepares their specialty from jewelry, scarves and
ornaments to home-baked goodies and fresh floral
arrangements. It’s the perfect opportunity to finish
your shopping or get into the holiday spirit.
May Festival
Community and Hospital Event
Members of the Women’s Auxiliary provide support
for this fun three-day festival held on the grounds of
the Hospital in May.
SERVICE PROJECTS
The women of the Auxiliary lend their support and
compassion to make the environment of the Hospital
more comfortable for patients and employees. They
sew pillows for heart surgery patients, knit caps for
newborns, and make hats for cancer patients. In
addition they create meal tray favors for special
occasions and holidays.
SPECIAL EVENTS AND PROJECTS
The women of the Auxiliaries host fashion shows,
brunches, luncheons, trips, raffles, sales and holiday
events throughout the year in support of the Hospital.
