u i l d i n g p e o p l e Young Talent of the year 2009 April 16, 2009: Lucknow Winners pose at Young Talent of the Year 2009 With the objective to assimilate fresh ideas from the young talents to fulfill the state’s objectives, a debate competition was organized in association with WLC College India, Lucknow. The topic of debate was “Will facilitation of Industrial Development lead to fulfilling the State objective: ‘Sarvjan Hitaay, Sarvjan Sukhaay’” The team from Babu Banarsi Das National Institute of Technology and Management won the first prize, while WLC College India - Lucknow Campus was the 1st runner up and IILM Academy for Higher Learning was the 2nd runner up. Other teams participating in the competition were International Business School; Department of Economics, Lucknow University; IMRT Business School and IILM Business School. The participants were judged on various criteria ranging from content, body language, delivery / expression, semantics / linguistics to refutation. Roundtable discussion on Enhancing Employability through Skill Development in Knowledge Economy April 18, 2009: Lucknow Mr Alok Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Vocational Training & Technical Education, Government of U.P. and Mr V K Sharma, Infrastructure & Industrial Development Commissioner, Government of Uttar Pradesh during the interactive session CII Uttar Pradesh in association with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee organized an event with the objective to help the industry share its concerns for trained manpower in diverse disciplines; and the academia - be able to impart content and knowledge to the technical manpower – making India – a rich supply pool for technical manpower. DPS Students - Session on Entrepreneurship, Tree Plantation & visit to TCS May 11, 2009: Lucknow Aiming to promote Entrepreneurship among students CII Uttar Pradesh organized a learning session with Mr G R Mishra, Managing Director – GIMI Engineering (P) Ltd acquainting students from Delhi Public School at its office in Lucknow. About 65 students from the intermediate section of the school took part in the initiative. Mr Mishra also encouraged students to achieve the desired goal, towards becoming a successful entrepreneur. Awareness Session on Modular Employable Skills May 20 , 2009 : Lucknow Mr Jayant Krishna, Vice Chairman, CII UP State Council; Mr B.L. Meena, Director , Training & Employment, Uttar Pradesh In an attempt to educate the industry and other stakeholders on the Modular Employable Skills (MES) Schemes, an awareness session on Modular Employable Skils Scheme was organized. Mr B.L. Meena, Director, Training & Employment, Uttar Pradesh and Mr Jayant Krishna, Vice Chairman, CII Uttar Pradesh State interacted with the participants on Modular Employable Skills. The session was well attended by over 40 industry delegates from auto, manufacturing, consumer durables, social development, agriculture & food processing sectors, from all across Uttar Pradesh. 10 UTTAR PRADESH ANNUAL REVIEW
Session on Strategic Management, Creativity and Innovation September 25, 2009: Noida To enhance the skills and mindset of the middle level managers to make them compatible to the competitive market, a training session was conducted by CII Western Uttar Pradesh Zonal Council. The session also aimed to help and assist them to be more proactive than reactive in shaping organisation's future.15 representatives from the industry attended the session. Session on Team Building & Stress Management September 26, 2009: Noida The panel of judges included Mr. Y S Sahney, Consultant – Rites, Lucknow, Mr. I M Lal, Consultant- Professional Education, Educomp Solutions, Noida and Ms. Meena Agarwal, IT Consultant, SWARA- World Bank Project, Lucknow. To empower individuals in contributing towards a common goal and ensure increased productivity, a session on Team building and Stress Management was conducted. The session also aimed to enhance the lateral thinking power and come up with unique ideas and solutions. The participants were provided case studies which helped them anticipate and resolve stressful situations systematically using timebased and people-based techniques. 22nd QC Competition September 25, 2009: Lucknow Participants of 22nd QC Competition In an attempt to recognise the industries initiatives to enhance quality while handling different projects, CII Uttar Pradesh State Council organized its 22nd Quality Circle (QC) Competition in Lucknow. The “PIONEER” QC Circle from “NTPC, SINGRAULI” was the winner and picked the ‘Winners Rolling Trophy’. Around 12 Quality Circles participated and made presentations on their respective innovative initiatives. e x p l o r i n g h o r i z o n s Interactive Session with U S Embassy Officials September 15, 2009: Lucknow With the objective to gather feedback on the infrastructure, transportation & aviation sectors in Uttar Pradesh, a meeting was organized by CII Uttar Pradesh with Ms Shana Sherry, US Economic Officer. Ms Sherry, optimistic about the future prospects of Uttar Pradesh, mentioned that the state has immense potential and a wealth of talent pool. CII Uttar Pradesh members informed her about the various initiatives and projects that were under progress especially in the field of infrastructure.
