Hampton Forge (Con’t. from p. 21)
5. Use DuraCeramica knifes for slicing
or cutting acidic foods.
Acidic fruits and vegetables react
to the metal ions in steel blades and
may leave a metallic taste residue.
DuraCeramica knives do not interact
with acidic foods, and may actually
help foods stay fresher, longer.
6. As with any knife, do not use
DuraCeramica as a tool to pry anything
open or to cut packaging.
Even banging on a stone counter
to break open garlic, for instance, is
considered an improper knife use.
7. DuraCeramica knives work best on
softer cutting boards like plastic, wood
or bamboo. Marble and glass should
be avoided.
8. DuraCeramica knives are lightweight,
offering less stress on arms
and shoulders for longer periods of
food preparation.
9. DuraCeramica knives will stay
sharper longer than their metal counterparts
and may never need sharpening.
Should a DuraCeramica blade ever
become dull or chipped, they can be
sharpened with a diamond stone and
other tools that buff the surface. Like
metal blades, professional service is
always recommended to restore the
knife back to its original condition.
10. Is a dishwasher safe for
DuraCeramica knives?
DuraCeramica knives require very
little maintenance. A quick rinse or a little
detergent is all that is typically needed.
The danger with dishwashing is the violent
rattling a knife may endure which
could chip its ultra-fine blade. These
are lightweight precision tools and can
get moved around in a dishwasher by
high-pressure water sprays.
