Patricia Handly<br />
Patricia Handly is currently an educational consultant who supports teachers and<br />
principals as they seek to become effective lea<strong>de</strong>rs in the practice of teaching and<br />
learning. She works with several organizations including Developmental Studies Center, a<br />
non-profit, mission driven organization that promotes aca<strong>de</strong>mic and social learning. For<br />
the past eight years, she has been the lead trainer in instructional supervision and<br />
evaluation at the Principals Training Center for International School Lea<strong>de</strong>rship.<br />
Prior to her work as a consultant and for more than a <strong>de</strong>ca<strong>de</strong>, Patricia enjoyed her role<br />
as elementary principal at three different international schools in Latin America – The<br />
Carol Morgan School in Santo Domingo, Saint John’s School in San Juan, and Escuela Campo<br />
Alegre here in <strong>Caracas</strong>. As principal she focused her work on building teacher learning<br />
teams to -support stu<strong>de</strong>nt learning. Before becoming an elementary principal, Patricia<br />
worked in the United States as a school psychologist, college lecturer in psychology<br />
and an elementary classroom teacher. She holds a bachelor of arts <strong>de</strong>gree in child<br />
<strong>de</strong>velopment, a master of arts <strong>de</strong>gree in child clinical psychology and certificates in<br />
teaching, school psychology and elementary school principalship.<br />
Patricia’s interests lie in literacy acquisition, the teaching of writing, child<br />
<strong>de</strong>velopment, building caring school communities and school lea<strong>de</strong>rship. Her work in<br />
education has taken her around the world to five of the seven continents where she has<br />
enjoyed collaborating with stu<strong>de</strong>nts, teachers, principals and parents in more than 200<br />
schools.<br />
