24 members of the Class of
1955 received their golden
diplomas.The class not only
participated in graduation but
also planned a full weekend of
activities to celebrate their
jubilee reunion.At a champagne
reception in the convent
parlors, the 50th reunion class
presented Sr. Carol A. Peterson,
RDC, Principal, with a donation
of $6,000 restricted to scholarship
monies.

Good Counsel High School held
Commencement Exercises on
Saturday, June 4, 2005, at one
o’clock on campus.Whitney
Vlasaty ‘05 gave the invocation,
and Sr. M. Doretta Cornell, RDC,
Member, GCA Board of Trustees,
addressed the graduates. Elisa
DeMarco ’05 gave the Salutation,
and Catherine Mackin ’05 was
Valedictorian. Fifty graduates from
the Class of 2005 joined the
ranks of GCA alumnae, which
now number more than 5,000.

GCA welcomes 95 members of
the Class of 2009. Good luck!
On November 8th, GCA will hold
an assembly on Breaking the Cycle
of Violence. The main speaker will
be Steven MacDonald who will
speak about forgiveness. Some
classes from GCA’s elementary
school will join us at the assembly.
During the summer, the longawaited
roof replacement began,
and the scaffolding was erected.
The roof has now been finished,
the scaffolding is in the process of
being removed, and we look forward
to starting the school year
with the completion of the entire
job.
GCA looks forward to unveiling
its redesigned website in the fall.
The Website Committee spent
many hours on this project, and it
is our hope that you will find it
informational and easy to navigate.
Special thanks to Janis
Archer ’71, Chair of the Website
Committee, for spearheading this
project.
The Parents’ Auxiliary will host a
family barbeque for students and
their families on Saturday, September
17, from noon to 3:00 p.m.
The cost is $5 per person, children

1950
Moira Duggan and her classmates
were saddened by the
death of their classmate, Marie
Magurren Byrnes. Moira writes,
“Marie Magurren Byrnes, Class
of 1950, passed away on June 10
at her home in Rye, NY. After
attending Cazenovia College,
she married Iona Prep graduate
Tucker Byrnes, then serving in
the U. S. Army. Except for some
time in Germany as an Army
wife, Marie lived most of her life
in or near Rye. She is predeceased
by her son, Thomas, and
by her former husband.”
1952
Norma Korn Camp and her
husband, Gilbert, celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary in
November of 2004, and grandson,
Christopher, graduated
from high school in June. Norma
writes that they were fortunate to
be able to celebrate her mother’s
passage to Heaven in the beautiful
chapel at Good Counsel in May.
1959
Rosemary Schultz Fahey has
been happily living in Connecticut
for one year now. She became
a grandmother for the first time
in May when Ryan was born and
will be traveling to England in
October for the wedding of her
son, Michael.
1960
Carole Marini Pierantoni’s new
grandson, Gregory Michael, was
born on May 6, 2005, to her son,
John, and daughter-in-law, Andrea,
in Valencia, CA. Carole visited in
June and met Gregory and played
with 2 1 /2 year old Jeffrey.
1961
Jean Henke Anthony’s youngest
child, Margaret, recently became
engaged to Andrew Whitbeck.
A June 2006 wedding is planned.
Tina DiRienzo McDermott
writes, “Well, we may have
grown blonder—but we’re still
smiling 44 years later! And looking
forward to seeing more of
‘us’ at our 45th.” (see photo below.)
Lois Moccio Rigsbee and her
husband, Chuck, took their first
trip to Spain. “Thank you Sr.
Joannes, wherever you are, for
the three years of Spanish! It
made it easier.”

“On June 29, five members of
our class (Anne Iorizzo Gentile,
Margaret Brauch Kolb, Joanne
Misarti Giangrande, Nancy
Ekelund Black, and myself) gathered
to begin to plan for our 45th
reunion in March, 2007. We have
been in touch with about fifteen
other classmates with the hope of
reaching all of you. We plan to

Kathy Donahue Bologna’s
daughter, Alison, can be seen at
11 p.m. on Channel 10 (WJAR) in
Providence, RI. Her daughter,
Jessica, will be going to Harvard
Business School in the fall for an
MBA after working for two years
at the Walt Disney Co.
1968
Sr. Laura Donovan writes that
Marie Duggan Parrish ’81 and
Terri Lamattina Berry ’78 participated
in a “Women in Science
Day” at Preston High School.
“They were both excellent.”
Marianna Fanelli’s daughter,
Kristen Maiberger, graduated
from Good Counsel Elementary
in June 2005! She will be a freshman
at JFK in Somers in
September.
1971
Carolann Collica Castellano and
her husband, Steven, celebrated
their 30th anniversary this year.
Their daughter, Laura, graduated
from the University of Delaware,
and their daughter, Danielle, celebrated
her sweet 16th birthday.
1978
Eileen Tedaldi Meraklis remarried
a few years ago, and she and
her husband own a printing/
graphic design shop. Her son,
Ryan, will be a freshman this fall
at her alma mater, the University
of Dayton. Eileen would love to
see everyone at a reunion.
1984
Christine Ward Piper and her
husband, Ron, are expecting their
second child in August, and their
son, Ronald, III, graduated from
kindergarten in June.
1989
Patricia Geraghty Ferrer and her
family moved to Cary, NC, in
June and bought a beautiful fourbedroom
house. On December 7,
2004, Patricia gave birth to Liam
Michael who weighed 8 lbs. 10
oz. and was 21” long. Liam joins
big brothers, Michael (6) and
Daniel (3).
Regina Buonocore Murdock and
her husband, Scott, announce the
birth of their son Daniel Charles
who was born on July 22. Daniel
weighed 7 lbs. 19 1 /2 in., was born
at 12:10 a.m., and joins his big
brother, Scotty.
Mareilys Rodriguez was married
to Luis Alberto Alvarez on June
18, 2005, at the Chapel of the
Divine Compassion. Her matron
of honor was Mercedes Rodriguez-
Hobson ’87, and Norma Barreiro
’81 was a bridesmaid.
1991
Sara Guardino married Jeffrey
Colket on April 9, 2005 in Boston,
MA. Classmates Dana Speed
Astorino, Diane O’Connor
Martin, Rosina Giuliante, and
Vikki Karan attended. The most
important guest was Sara’s mom,
Lynn Schneider Guardino ’65.
Also in attendance were Sara’s
aunt, Susan Guardino D’Angelo
’76 and family friend, Camilla
Cimino Harris ’65.

Vanessa Burgio and Frank
Calabro were married on August
29, 2004, and honeymooned in
Hawaii and Las Vegas. Antonella
Gentile ’96 was the maid of
honor.
Paulette Rotta married Alexander
Beldotti on July 16, 2005, at the
Chapel of the Divine
Compassion. Laura Filardi ’96
was a maid of honor.
Brianne Milo Toole gave birth
to a daughter, Emma Angelina.
1997
Jessica Anne Russo married
Paul Pizzutello at the Chapel of
the Divine Compassion on June
25, 2005. Maid of honor was
Lisa Tramaglini ’97, and bridesmaids
were Kara Keckler ’97
and Stacey Ziemer ’97.
1998
Alanna Bortolin is raising her
son, Justin (4) in York, PA, while
working full-time at Wachovia
Bank. Alanna also returned to
school part-time carrying a 4.0
at York College of PA.
Leigh Colby is currently working
as a Project Coordinator for
the LEND Program at the Westchester
Institute for Human
Development in Valhalla, NY.
She is also attending the School
of Public Health at New York
Medical College studying for
her master’s in public health.
1999
Janice Leadbeader announces
her engagement to Michael C.
Williams. Janice will enter the
Cochran School of Nursing in
September.
Christine Tedesco became
engaged to Robert Wasil, Jr., in
June. A wedding is planned
for September 2006.
2000
Laura Berger is engaged to
Frank Luzzi, and a fall wedding
is planned.
JoAnne Consilvio married John
Daniel on May 29, 2005, at the
Chapel of the Divine Compassion.
JoAnne’s mother is
Carolyn Grabbe Consilvio ’74.
Bridesmaids were Alison
Daniel ’03 (sister of the groom)
and Courtney Doherty ’00.
