parlors, the 50th reunion class<br />

presented Sr. Carol A. Peterson,<br />

and Catherine Mackin ’05 was<br />

Valedictorian. Fifty graduates from<br />

the <strong>Class</strong> <strong>of</strong> 2005 joined the<br />

ranks <strong>of</strong> GCA alumnae, which<br />

now number more than 5,000.<br />

GCA welcomes 95 members <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>Class</strong> <strong>of</strong> 2009. <strong>Good</strong> luck!<br />

On November 8th, GCA will hold<br />

an assembly on Breaking the Cycle<br />

<strong>of</strong> Violence. The main speaker will<br />

be Steven MacDonald who will<br />

speak about forgiveness. Some<br />

classes from GCA’s elementary<br />

school will join us at the assembly.<br />

During the summer, the longawaited<br />

ro<strong>of</strong> replacement began,<br />

and the scaffolding was erected.<br />

The ro<strong>of</strong> has now been finished,<br />

the scaffolding is in the process <strong>of</strong><br />

being removed, and we look forward<br />

to starting the school year<br />

with the completion <strong>of</strong> the entire<br />

job.<br />

GCA looks forward to unveiling<br />

its redesigned website in the fall.<br />

The Website Committee spent<br />

many hours on this project, and it<br />

is our hope that you will find it<br />

informational and easy to navigate.<br />

Archer ’71, Chair <strong>of</strong> the Website<br />

Committee, for spearheading this<br />

project.<br />

The Parents’ Auxiliary will host a<br />

family barbeque for students and<br />

their families on Saturday, September<br />

1950<br />

Moira Duggan and her classmates<br />

were saddened by the<br />

death <strong>of</strong> their classmate, Marie<br />

Magurren Byrnes. Moira writes,<br />

“Marie Magurren Byrnes, <strong>Class</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> 1950, passed away on June 10<br />

at her home in Rye, NY. After<br />

attending Cazenovia College,<br />

she married Iona Prep graduate<br />

Tucker Byrnes, then serving in<br />

the U. S. Army. Except for some<br />

time in Germany as an Army<br />

wife, Marie lived most <strong>of</strong> her life<br />

in or near Rye. She is predeceased<br />

by her son, Thomas, and<br />

by her former husband.”<br />

1952<br />

Norma Korn Camp and her<br />

husband, Gilbert, celebrated their<br />

50th wedding anniversary in<br />

November <strong>of</strong> 2004, and grandson,<br />

Christopher, graduated<br />

from high school in June. Norma<br />

writes that they were fortunate to<br />

be able to celebrate her mother’s<br />

passage to Heaven in the beautiful<br />

chapel at <strong>Good</strong> <strong>Counsel</strong> in May.<br />

1959<br />

Rosemary Schultz Fahey has<br />

been happily living in Connecticut<br />

for one year now. She became<br />

a grandmother for the first time<br />

in May when Ryan was born and<br />

will be traveling to England in<br />

October for the wedding <strong>of</strong> her<br />

son, Michael.<br />

1960<br />

Carole Marini Pierantoni’s new<br />

grandson, Gregory Michael, was<br />

born on May 6, 2005, to her son,<br />

John, and daughter-in-law, Andrea,<br />

in Valencia, CA. Carole visited in<br />

June and met Gregory and played<br />

with 2 1 /2 year old Jeffrey.<br />

1961<br />

Jean Henke Anthony’s youngest<br />

child, Margaret, recently became<br />

engaged to Andrew Whitbeck.<br />

A June 2006 wedding is planned.<br />

Tina DiRienzo McDermott<br />

writes, “Well, we may have<br />

grown blonder—but we’re still<br />

smiling 44 years later! And looking<br />

forward to seeing more <strong>of</strong><br />

‘us’ at our 45th.” (see photo below.)<br />

Lois Moccio Rigsbee and her<br />

husband, Chuck, took their first<br />

trip to Spain. “Thank you Sr.<br />

Joannes, wherever you are, for<br />

the three years <strong>of</strong> Spanish! It<br />

made it easier.”<br />

“On June 29, five members <strong>of</strong><br />

Ekelund Black, and myself) gathered<br />

to begin to plan for our 45th<br />

reunion in March, 2007. We have<br />

been in touch with about fifteen<br />

other classmates with the hope <strong>of</strong><br />

reaching all <strong>of</strong> you. We plan to<br />

send a letter out when all<br />

Kathy Donahue Bologna’s<br />

daughter, Alison, can be seen at<br />

11 p.m. on Channel 10 (WJAR) in<br />

Providence, RI. Her daughter,<br />

Jessica, will be going to Harvard<br />

Business <strong>School</strong> in the fall for an<br />

MBA after working for two years<br />

at the Walt Disney Co.<br />

1968<br />

Sr. Laura Donovan writes that<br />

Marie Duggan Parrish ’81 and<br />

Terri Lamattina Berry ’78 participated<br />

in a “Women in Science<br />

Day” at Preston <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>.<br />

“They were both excellent.”<br />

Marianna Fanelli’s daughter,<br />

Kristen Maiberger, graduated<br />

from <strong>Good</strong> <strong>Counsel</strong> Elementary<br />

in June 2005! She will be a freshman<br />

at JFK in Somers in<br />

September.<br />

1971<br />

Carolann Collica Castellano and<br />

her husband, Steven, celebrated<br />

their 30th anniversary this year.<br />

Their daughter, Laura, graduated<br />

from the University <strong>of</strong> Delaware,<br />

and their daughter, Danielle, celebrated<br />

her sweet 16th birthday.<br />

1978<br />

Eileen Tedaldi Meraklis remarried<br />

a few years ago, and she and<br />

her husband own a printing/<br />

graphic design shop. Her son,<br />

Ryan, will be a freshman this fall<br />

at her alma mater, the University<br />

<strong>of</strong> Dayton. Eileen would love to<br />

see everyone at a reunion.<br />

1984<br />

Christine Ward Piper and her<br />

husband, Ron, are expecting their<br />

second child in August, and their<br />

son, Ronald, III, graduated from<br />

kindergarten in June.<br />

1989<br />

Patricia Geraghty Ferrer and her<br />

family moved to Cary, NC, in<br />

June and bought a beautiful fourbedroom<br />

house. On December 7,<br />

2004, Patricia gave birth to Liam<br />

Michael who weighed 8 lbs. 10<br />

oz. and was 21” long. Liam joins<br />

big brothers, Michael (6) and<br />

Daniel (3).<br />

Regina Buonocore Murdock and<br />

her husband, Scott, announce the<br />

birth <strong>of</strong> their son Daniel Charles<br />

who was born on July 22. Daniel<br />

weighed 7 lbs. 19 1 /2 in., was born<br />

at 12:10 a.m., and joins his big<br />

brother, Scotty.<br />

Mareilys Rodriguez was married<br />

to Luis Alberto Alvarez on June<br />

18, 2005, at the Chapel <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Divine Compassion. Her matron<br />

<strong>of</strong> honor was Mercedes Rodriguez-<br />

Hobson ’87, and Norma Barreiro<br />

’81 was a bridesmaid.<br />

1991<br />

Sara Guardino married Jeffrey<br />

Colket on April 9, 2005 in Boston,<br />

MA. <strong>Class</strong>mates Dana Speed<br />

Astorino, Diane O’Connor<br />

Martin, Rosina Giuliante, and<br />

Vikki Karan attended. The most<br />

important guest was Sara’s mom,<br />

Lynn Schneider Guardino ’65.<br />

Also in attendance were Sara’s<br />

aunt, Susan Guardino D’Angelo<br />

’76 and family friend, Camilla<br />

Cimino Harris ’65.<br />

Megan Skladony is engaged to<br />

Joe Cosgrove, and an October<br />

2005 wedding is planned.<br />

1996<br />

Vanessa Burgio and Frank<br />

Calabro were married on August<br />

29, 2004, and honeymooned in<br />

Hawaii and Las Vegas. Antonella<br />

Gentile ’96 was the maid <strong>of</strong><br />

honor.<br />

Paulette Rotta married Alexander<br />

Beldotti on July 16, 2005, at the<br />

Chapel <strong>of</strong> the Divine<br />

Compassion. Laura Filardi ’96<br />

was a maid <strong>of</strong> honor.<br />

Brianne Milo Toole gave birth<br />

to a daughter, Emma Angelina.<br />

1997<br />

Jessica Anne Russo married<br />

Paul Pizzutello at the Chapel <strong>of</strong><br />

the Divine Compassion on June<br />

25, 2005. Maid <strong>of</strong> honor was<br />

Lisa Tramaglini ’97, and bridesmaids<br />

were Kara Keckler ’97<br />

and Stacey Ziemer ’97.<br />

1998<br />

Alanna Bortolin is raising her<br />

son, Justin (4) in York, PA, while<br />

working full-time at Wachovia<br />

Bank. Alanna also returned to<br />

school part-time carrying a 4.0<br />

at York College <strong>of</strong> PA.<br />

Leigh Colby is currently working<br />

as a Project Coordinator for<br />

the LEND Program at the Westchester<br />

Institute for Human<br />

Development in Valhalla, NY.<br />

She is also attending the <strong>School</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> Public Health at New York<br />

Medical College studying for<br />

her master’s in public health.<br />

1999<br />

Janice Leadbeader announces<br />

her engagement to Michael C.<br />

Williams. Janice will enter the<br />

Cochran <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Nursing in<br />

September.<br />

Christine Tedesco became<br />

engaged to Robert Wasil, Jr., in<br />

June. A wedding is planned<br />

for September 2006.<br />

2000<br />

Laura Berger is engaged to<br />

Frank Luzzi, and a fall wedding<br />

is planned.<br />

JoAnne Consilvio married John<br />

Daniel on May 29, 2005, at the<br />

Chapel <strong>of</strong> the Divine Compassion.<br />

JoAnne’s mother is<br />

Carolyn Grabbe Consilvio ’74.<br />
