The <strong>kit</strong> is also recommended for use in History, Commerce and PDHPE<br />

By including this <strong>kit</strong> in teaching and learning programs, teachers will be<br />

assisted in providing opportunities that<br />

• enable all students to develop positive self-concepts, and <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

capacity to establish and maintain safe, healthy and rewarding lives<br />

• prep<strong>are</strong> all students for effective and responsible participation in<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir society, taking account of moral, ethical and spiritual<br />

considerations. 3<br />

Engaging in <strong>kit</strong> activities will help students to achieve <strong>the</strong> following<br />

learning outcomes:<br />

• understand, develop and communicate ideas and information<br />

• access, analyse, evaluate and use information from a variety of<br />

sources<br />

• possess <strong>the</strong> knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a safe and<br />

healthy lifestyle<br />

• understand and appreciate social, cultural, geographical and<br />

historical contexts and participate as active and informed citizens<br />

• understand and apply a variety of analytical and creative techniques<br />

to solve problems.<br />

In particular, this <strong>kit</strong> addresses <strong>the</strong> knowledge and skills, and working<br />

ma<strong>the</strong>matically outcomes described in <strong>the</strong> probability component of<br />

<strong>the</strong> syllabus;<br />

• NS4.4 --- solves probability problems involving simple events<br />

• NS5.1.3 --- determine relative frequencies and <strong>the</strong>oretical probabilities<br />

• NS5.3.2 --- solve probability problems involving compound events.<br />
