By including this kit in teaching and learning programs, teachers will be
assisted in providing opportunities that
• enable all students to develop positive self-concepts, and their
capacity to establish and maintain safe, healthy and rewarding lives
• prepare all students for effective and responsible participation in
their society, taking account of moral, ethical and spiritual
considerations. 3
Engaging in kit activities will help students to achieve the following
learning outcomes:
• understand, develop and communicate ideas and information
• access, analyse, evaluate and use information from a variety of
sources
• possess the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a safe and
healthy lifestyle
• understand and appreciate social, cultural, geographical and
historical contexts and participate as active and informed citizens
• understand and apply a variety of analytical and creative techniques
to solve problems.
In particular, this kit addresses the knowledge and skills, and working
mathematically outcomes described in the probability component of
the syllabus;
• NS4.4 --- solves probability problems involving simple events
• NS5.1.3 --- determine relative frequencies and theoretical probabilities
• NS5.3.2 --- solve probability problems involving compound events.
