Cascio Interstate <strong>Music</strong> drew in record<br />
attendance for its sixth annual<br />
GuitarFest on Nov. 20, 2010.<br />
The New Berlin, Wis., dealership hosted the<br />
clinic and musical showcase event on its instore<br />
soundstage, which featured performances<br />
and seminars by a diverse artist lineup.<br />
Cascio CEO Michael Houser said this year’s<br />
GuitarFest focused on everything from individual<br />
instruction to social media networking.<br />
“We had great and inspirational instruction<br />
from our clinicians and crowd<br />
interactivity — greater than any other GuitarFest<br />
we have had,” Houser said.<br />
Highlights included performances and<br />
storytelling by Milwaukee native Greg Koch<br />
and bassist Billy Sheehan. Sheehan, who<br />
has played with Steve Vai and David Lee<br />
Roth, discussed the importance of practice.<br />
Cascio instructors Keith Pulvermacher<br />
and Josh Tovar also demonstrated various<br />
techniques, from open-string leads to<br />
inversions. Tovar included tips from his<br />
upcoming Hal Leonard DVD series, Guitar<br />
Licks Goldmine. Neoclassical metal<br />
player Rob Marcello also entertained the<br />
crowd with his knowledge of classic riffs.<br />

Long & McQuade has been battling its<br />
telephone company, Telus, for 18 months.<br />
Steve Long, president of the Pickering,<br />
Ontario, dealership, said he’s been charged<br />
for long-distance calls, originally adding up<br />
to $83,000, that his company didn’t make.<br />
According to an article in Toronto Sun, more<br />
than 25 consecutive phone calls, each at least a<br />
half-hour long, were made to a pay-per-use service<br />
in Germany from Long & McQuade’s Pickering<br />
office in June 2009. Still, Long said the phone<br />
system only allows 12 lines to make calls at once.<br />
Telus claimed no responsibility because the telephone<br />
equipment was compromised. The original<br />
bill has been cut down, but Long said he wants it<br />
cleared for time spent dealing with the problem.<br />
