ANNUAL NURSING REPORT 2011 — QUALITY
UNMH Presents the Surgical Experience
For the first time in June 2011, UNMH offered a three-day course for
high schoolers to show them what it was like to work in an operating
room. Students from around the state attended the surgical experience,
a ― soup-to-nuts review of life in the OR. Students heard about being a
surgeon; learned about other roles in the OR; and had demonstrations
and presentations on anesthesia, radiology and pharmacy. They gowned
up and scrubbed in, learned to suture and watched and participated in surgical
simulations in the BATCAVE. The event was part lecture and part hands-on.
Local TV station KRQE was on hand to capture the class happenings and promote
the event on their newscast on June 10. Thanks to Sheena Ferguson, Cynde Tagg,
Lorena Beeman, Mary Blessing, Connie Fassler, Kathy Lopez-Bushnell, Laurie Mason,
Doug Gadomski, Luke Esquibel, Jane Potter, Myra Zucker, Jerry Beeman, Rosalia
Ciddio, Dr. David Pitcher, staff from the cardiac cath lab, and others who
participated in this
terrific opportunity
for the youth in our
community.

Training Top 125
UNM Hospitals has again been honored by Training magazine as
one of the top 125 training organizations in the country that excels
at human capital development, and training and development.
The annual Training Top 125 list is the only report that ranks
