Multiple web newspaper <strong>printing</strong> requires roll and web<br />

handling that easily processes dozens of rolls per hour. The<br />

key requirement is that deadlines are consistently met to<br />

the hour because old news is no news. MEGTEC supplies<br />

more splicers to newspapers than any other company.<br />

They are the leading supplier of both zero- and matchspeed<br />

models. MEGTEC is also the leader in introducing<br />

semi-commercial heatset drying to newspapers.<br />

sub-systems: roll-to-web handling and heatset dryingoxidation.<br />

Robust reliability is essential for 24/7 operation<br />

along with minimum waste and energy consumption,<br />

and full environmental compliance. The range of splicers,<br />

dryers and web conditioning handles all applications from<br />

16 to 72 page presses with web widths up to 2080 mm<br />

(82”), and roll weights up to 3200 kg (7050 lbs) running at<br />

17m/s (3350 fpm). Other applications include insert and<br />

book presses.<br />

drying and oxidation –more presses<br />

in the world run with its dryers than<br />

all other brands combined. MEGTEC’s<br />

vast expertise in pollution control and<br />

industrial drying have enabled the<br />

successful transfer of technologies<br />

to <strong>printing</strong> applications. The result<br />

is optimum <strong>printing</strong> performance,<br />

minimized energy and waste costs while<br />

meeting the strictest environmental<br />

requirements.<br />

Dual-Dry® dryer series<br />

The patented and proven Dual-Dry® air nozzle system ensures<br />

heat and mass transfer performance and web stability – even with<br />

heavy ink coverage on lightweight papers at low web tension.<br />

The Dual-Dry® III<br />

is a stand-alone dryer for multi-web installations generally<br />

connected to a central independent regenerative thermal<br />

oxidizer (RTO).<br />

The Dual-Dry® TNV<br />

has an integrated thermal oxidizer that provides a cleaning<br />

performance to meet the strictest environmental regulations.<br />

Low energy consumption is ensured with a high efficiency heat<br />

exchanger and the advanced concentration control ERSplus.<br />

UV and IR drying<br />

MEGTEC also offers combination dryers<br />

with IR plus convection heat and mass<br />

transfer for applications in water-based<br />

coating and print applications. For curable<br />

inks and coatings, MEGTEC offers<br />

UV curing systems in conjunction with<br />

web path management. For carton<br />

materials with one-sided print configurations,<br />

50,000 Nm3/hr (3000 to 30,000 scfm).<br />

The high thermal efficiency of up to<br />

98% allows for auto-thermal operations<br />

at 1-2 g/Nm3 (4-6% LEL) of solvent and<br />

up to 25% LEL by using the hot-side<br />

bypass while meeting strict regulatory<br />

emission compliance.<br />

Solvent recovery<br />

MEGTEC’s carbon adsorption systems<br />

recover up to 99% of solvent emissions<br />

from solvent-using processes for re-use<br />

reducing costs by virtually eliminating<br />

solvent expense, while exceeding regulatory<br />

requirements.<br />

Efficiency & optimization services<br />

The modernization or upgrade of an existing press line can<br />

extend the economic life of press assets by many years, improve<br />
