EXPECT THE BEST OUT OF LIFE autumn shields-saraff NVP Independent Consultant, National Vice-President Autumn Shields-Saraff Nation; Parker, CO I signed up with Arbonne three-and-a-half years ago to receive a discount on Arbonne Aromassentials Awaken Sea Salt Scrub. I love finding a good deal on a quality product. I was introduced to Arbonne through a resident appreciation night at our apartment complex. There was an Arbonne Consultant sharing the Arbonne products with residents there. I was impressed, but skeptical. I had suffered from cystic acne since I was 12 years old. I had tried many skin care products and had been to numerous dermatologists with little or no results. Fortunately for me, the Consultant offered to come over and pamper a group of my friends. I received an Awaken Sea Salt Scrub as one of my gifts for hosting. I saw immediate results and kept buying one Sea Salt Scrub a month for five months, because I could not be without it. My Consultant explained to me that I could receive the Sea Salt Scrub and all of the other pure, safe, beneficial Arbonne products at a discount if I signed up as a Consultant. I joined Arbonne, but only for the discount. At the time, I was working as a victim services coordinator for a local police department. I had been in the field for 10 years and loved my career. I provided crisis intervention and follow-up support to crime victims. I felt like I could impact families in a positive way during a difficult time. I thought I would be doing it for another 20 years. I had accepted the fact that working 40–50 hours a week was going to be my life until retirement. I was living out what I thought was accomplishment. I went to school, received my degree and was working hard to be successful in a career that I had chosen. What I did not realize was that I was giving up what was important me. I was missing my family and friends. During the next few months, I also started using an Arbonne skin care system and realized what a difference a botanically-based system offers. I started sharing many of the Arbonne products with friends and family. I showed them how they could also save money on European formulated skin care and other consumable products. I did not realize it at the time, but I had started a business. I started experiencing residual income. Arbonne was paying me to share this product with others. I was having fun helping people look and feel better. I always believed in working hard for what I wanted. Residual income was a new concept for me to learn. It is still work, but the payoff is not just trading time for money. If anyone had asked me to take a look at Arbonne as a business, the answer would have been, “I am too busy. I love my job. I do not need it. I do not have the time or energy to put into it. I cannot give up the security of my fulltime job. I am a professional. I do not need something like that.” For me, the next turning point was my sponsor asking me to attend a Mercedes-Benz Car Presentation one-and-a-half hours away. The only reason I went was to get a night away with my husband. That day changed my life. I walked into a room of people who “wowed” me. What I experienced that day seemed out of the ordinary to me. Everyone was so sincere and encouraging. I also met our beloved President Rita Davenport. As she spoke, I saw the heart of the company. All the way home, my husband kept asking me, “You are going to do this, right” He saw the potential of the company and the possibilities that it could provide for our family. We are a blended family. I went from being a single parent to having a family of six! My husband was a police officer at the time and we were both oncall 24/7. Both of us came into the marriage with enormous debt and realized there were no more hours in the day to trade time for money. We had to make this work. My goal was simple in the beginning. It was just to earn the campaigns every month and a little extra income to get us to the next paycheck. I thought the trips, the Mercedes-Benz and the top positions were for a select few. I still did not believe that extraordinary success was attainable for me. I jumped in. I promoted to Regional Vice President eight months later and received a new Mercedes-Benz. I had built a business alongside my full-time job. I resigned from my job when I promoted, and have never looked back. People always ask me how I could have given up a job that was so exciting and made such an impact on other’s lives to sell skin care. For those of us who join Arbonne, we get to see amazing impact daily. Once I understood that there was an entire world of helping others beyond simply sharing the product, my business took off. This is where I found my passion. But I still did not believe that extraordinary success was attainable for me. I did not understand the network marketing industry. It can provide a vehicle for ordinary people to live extraordinary lives. I was blessed to find a company that is part of the network marketing industry, but comes with over two decades of experience and a unique compensation plan. Arbonne provides a proven system for success. All you have to do is follow it. It is a “turn-key” business with exceptional support and low startup costs. What a blessing! I fell in love with the diversity and quality of people in Arbonne. I saw so many people that came from many different backgrounds and found success with Arbonne. So I asked myself, “Why not me” Now I am asking, “Why not you, too” Some people are like me and take small steps into this unknown territory. Others catch the vision and are committed from the start. People are attracted to Arbonne for many different reasons. All that matters is that you give yourself a chance to live out your full potential. Once I caught the vision, I promised myself I would keep going until I reached the top. While I was building my business, I had to learn to move all the negative out of my way and celebrate success. I had to be willing to try to be the best Consultant on my team. Your team will only do what you do. I had to learn that “how” you are doing Arbonne is not as important as Why you are doing Arbonne. I had to learn to write down what I wanted to attain because then it became a goal instead of just a wish. I had to learn to be the possibility. People will follow you when you move. People are waiting and watching to see you succeed. Do not wait on them. Show them it works. I still find myself waking up early and staying up late working my business out of pure excitement. All of the sacrifices I had to make along the way were short-term and worth it all. To promote to NVP, you have to do what others are not willing to do. I was willing to embrace the journey and all the ups and downs. I found that I grew as a person and as a leader from all the experiences. My husband said to me a month ago that he never expected to have what we have, because of Arbonne, out of life. He said that at the age of 30, he quit dreaming because it just became a daily rat race. He is now looking forward to retirement before he even turns 40 years old! I told him to hold on. We have just begun! Success is not a destination, but a journey. I now get to love life, not just live it. It is never too late to start dreaming again.
