<strong>RE</strong>: <strong>Young</strong> <strong>Voices</strong> <strong>Concert</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>O2</strong> <strong>Arena</strong> – Tuesday 1 st December <strong>2009</strong><br />

Dear Parents and Carers,<br />

I am writing with <strong>the</strong> final details and arrangements for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Young</strong> <strong>Voices</strong> <strong>Concert</strong>:<br />

Tickets<br />

Tickets have now arrived, and <strong>the</strong>y are now available for you to collect <strong>the</strong>m from<br />

<strong>the</strong> school office. I have decided against sending <strong>the</strong>m home in book bags as <strong>the</strong><br />

tickets are so expensive, I would not want <strong>the</strong>m to be misplaced. If you are not<br />

able to come into <strong>the</strong> school office, please ring <strong>the</strong> office so th<strong>at</strong> we can make<br />

altern<strong>at</strong>ive arrangements for getting <strong>the</strong> tickets to you.<br />

For your inform<strong>at</strong>ion, our Choir position is in Section 106, Level 4, Rows U-Z.<br />

T-Shirts / Dress<br />

If a <strong>Young</strong> <strong>Voices</strong> t-shirt was ordered for your child, <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong>y will be bringing it<br />

home when <strong>the</strong>y arrive, hopefully sometime this week!<br />

If your child is not wearing an official t-shirt, <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> only altern<strong>at</strong>ive is plain<br />

white, no o<strong>the</strong>r coloured tops will be allowed. Any dark skirt or trousers will be<br />

acceptable, so I suggest th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> children wear bottom-half of <strong>the</strong>ir normal school<br />

uniform.<br />

I will expect <strong>the</strong> children to come to school wearing <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>Concert</strong> ‘outfit’ on<br />

Tuesday 1 st December. They will <strong>the</strong>refore not need to change before we leave.<br />

The children will keep <strong>the</strong>ir co<strong>at</strong>s and bags with <strong>the</strong>m <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> arena and store <strong>the</strong>m<br />

under <strong>the</strong>ir chair se<strong>at</strong>s.<br />

Tiny Torches and Santa H<strong>at</strong>s!<br />

<strong>Young</strong> <strong>Voices</strong> would like to encourage <strong>the</strong> children to bring a tiny b<strong>at</strong>tery oper<strong>at</strong>ed<br />

torch to add to <strong>the</strong> excitement of <strong>the</strong> lighting effects in <strong>the</strong> arena! ‘Torches with<br />

beam destroy <strong>the</strong> starlight effect and will not be allowed – and will be<br />

confisc<strong>at</strong>ed’.<br />

The children are also asked to bring red and white Santa h<strong>at</strong>s if <strong>the</strong>y have <strong>the</strong>m, to<br />

add to <strong>the</strong> effect in selected songs.


Arrangements for <strong>the</strong> day<br />

The children will have an earlier, normal lunch <strong>at</strong> school, <strong>the</strong>n we will leave by<br />

coach <strong>at</strong> 12:45. We will have an afternoon rehearsal in <strong>the</strong> arena, <strong>the</strong>n children<br />

will have a break before <strong>the</strong> concert. They will <strong>the</strong>refore need to bring a packed<br />

tea in a disposable plastic bag. We will not be leaving <strong>the</strong> arena. The concert<br />

commences <strong>at</strong> 7:00pm and is expected to finish <strong>at</strong> 9:15pm. We have been<br />

instructed by <strong>Young</strong> <strong>Voices</strong> th<strong>at</strong> all children will remain in <strong>the</strong>ir se<strong>at</strong>s until <strong>the</strong><br />

audience has dispersed. Coaches will return to school <strong>at</strong> approxim<strong>at</strong>ely 10:30pm,<br />

where <strong>the</strong> children will be collected. Due to <strong>the</strong> scale of <strong>the</strong> event and <strong>the</strong> large<br />

number of people involved, it will not be possible to make separ<strong>at</strong>e arrangements<br />

for children to be collected from <strong>the</strong> arena itself.<br />

Photo Permission<br />

Thank you to <strong>the</strong> majority of you th<strong>at</strong> returned <strong>the</strong> photo permission slip earlier in<br />

<strong>the</strong> term. For those of you th<strong>at</strong> didn’t, I will take it th<strong>at</strong> unless I receive<br />

notific<strong>at</strong>ion th<strong>at</strong> you do not consent to any photos being taken of your child,<br />

<strong>the</strong>n you agree to this.<br />

And Finally……..<br />

Please also note th<strong>at</strong> no video cameras will be allowed into <strong>the</strong> arenas – <strong>the</strong>y will<br />

be confisc<strong>at</strong>ed!<br />
