National <strong>Burn</strong> Repository Best Paper Award<br />
This award recognizes original research studies using information from <strong>the</strong> ABA<br />
National <strong>Burn</strong> Repository. There are two categories upon which researchers may<br />
submit: best manuscript by a physician, <strong>and</strong> best manuscript by a non-physician.<br />
Developed in 2007, this award category seeks to provide publishing opportunities<br />
for young authors <strong>and</strong> ABA members while employing <strong>the</strong> useful data contained<br />
in <strong>the</strong> NBR. The award is supported by a grant from Mölnlycke Healthcare US,<br />
LLC <strong>and</strong> carries with it a $500 honorarium <strong>and</strong> an engraved plaque. Application<br />
for this award is made by indicating on <strong>the</strong> abstract form that <strong>the</strong> primary author<br />
would like to be considered for <strong>the</strong> award, <strong>and</strong> submitting <strong>the</strong> abstract <strong>and</strong> a<br />
complete manuscript prior to <strong>the</strong>ir respective deadlines. Individual papers are<br />
judged by <strong>the</strong> NBR Advisory Committee <strong>and</strong> one is selected. The Committee may<br />
opt not to present this award if no suitable paper is submitted.<br />

Burke/Yannas Bioengineering Best Paper Award<br />
This award recognizes original research studies in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> bioengineering. The<br />
award recognizes <strong>the</strong> significant efforts <strong>of</strong> Dr. John F. Burke <strong>and</strong> Dr. Ioannis V.<br />
Yannas, who were both instrumental in <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first artificial skin.<br />
The award is supported by a grant from <strong>the</strong> Integra Foundation <strong>and</strong> carries with<br />
it a $500 honorarium <strong>and</strong> an engraved plaque. The principal investigator can be<br />
a physician or non-physician. Application for this award is made by indicating on<br />
<strong>the</strong> abstract form that <strong>the</strong> primary author would like to be considered for <strong>the</strong><br />
award, <strong>and</strong> submitting <strong>the</strong> abstract <strong>and</strong> a complete manuscript prior to <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
respective deadlines. Individual papers are judged by <strong>the</strong> Program Committee<br />
