<strong>Burn</strong> Prevention Award<br />

The <strong>Burn</strong> Prevention Award is given for contribution in at least one <strong>of</strong> four areas:<br />

1) prevention shall have worldwide, nationwide, or statewide impact; 2) if on a<br />

local level, it must be replicated in two or more local areas <strong>and</strong> serve as a model<br />

prevention effort; 3) <strong>the</strong> collection <strong>and</strong> reporting <strong>of</strong> epidemiological data should<br />

be such that it serves as <strong>the</strong> basis for state or national prevention efforts; 4) it<br />

should have a major influence on shaping <strong>the</strong> careers <strong>of</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r burn prevention<br />

workers. An individual is eligible each year if <strong>the</strong> work is <strong>of</strong> a new <strong>and</strong> significant<br />

nature <strong>and</strong> fulfills one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> four criteria.<br />

The award provides complimentary Annual Meeting registration, an engraved<br />

plaque <strong>and</strong> honorarium <strong>of</strong> $1,500.<br />

Nominations are sent ei<strong>the</strong>r to <strong>the</strong> Secretary's <strong>of</strong>fice or to <strong>the</strong> Chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Burn</strong> Prevention Committee. The <strong>Burn</strong> Prevention Committee selects <strong>the</strong> top<br />

three c<strong>and</strong>idates, with <strong>the</strong> final selection made by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Awards</strong> Committee.<br />

Application forms can be obtained through <strong>the</strong> ABA Central Office.<br />
