The John A. Moncrief Award is presented to fire services for outst<strong>and</strong>ing<br />

contribution in <strong>the</strong> area <strong>of</strong> burn prevention or burn care. The awardee can be an<br />

individual or an organization. It was first presented in 1994.<br />

The award provides an engraved medal <strong>and</strong> honorarium <strong>of</strong> $2.000.<br />

Barbara Kno<strong>the</strong> <strong>Burn</strong> Therapist Achievement Award<br />

This award commemorates <strong>the</strong> spirit <strong>and</strong> commitment <strong>of</strong> Barbara Kno<strong>the</strong>, MOT,<br />

OTR/L, CHT, who dedicated over 20 years <strong>of</strong> service to burn rehabilitation. She<br />

was an invaluable clinical instructor, mentor, teacher <strong>and</strong> clinician. This award<br />

is dedicated in her memory to active burn <strong>the</strong>rapists that embody <strong>the</strong> same drive<br />

<strong>and</strong> commitment. This memorial award serves as an active foundation <strong>and</strong><br />

inspiration for physical <strong>and</strong> occupational <strong>the</strong>rapists to be both clinical <strong>and</strong><br />

research based in <strong>the</strong>ir daily practices <strong>and</strong> to serve as a resource for developing<br />

burn <strong>the</strong>rapists to achieve <strong>the</strong>ir full potential. Recipients are presented an<br />

engraved plaque <strong>and</strong> are recognized among <strong>the</strong>ir peers at <strong>the</strong> Occupational &<br />

Physical Therapy Special Interest Group meeting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>American</strong> <strong>Burn</strong><br />

<strong>Association</strong> Annual Meeting.<br />
