HBU Chemist Visits Peer<br />

Dr. Robert Towery (right), associate professor in chemistry,<br />
chats with Dr. Henry Hays and Dr. Paul Millner from the<br />
<strong>University</strong> of Leeds in the United Kingdom about Quartz<br />
Crystal Microbalance (QCM) research during Towery’s recent<br />
visit to their laboratories. The three men met at the World<br />
Congress of Biosensors two years ago in Spain and discovered<br />
they were doing similar research.<br />

The first two weeks of October were extremely busy for the<br />
Admissions Recruiting Staff as <strong>Houston</strong> area school districts<br />
held their annual College Fair Night Programs. The Admissions<br />
Staff would like to thank the following alumni who worked<br />
side by side with Admissions during the fairs, visiting with<br />
prospective students and their families. They include Angela<br />
Stewart BA ’97, Francis Bui BS ’00, Katy Bowser Smith BA ’05,<br />
Chris Gary BA ’85 and Nicole Sweet Bills BA ’03.<br />

for Prospective Students<br />
A number of special events are planned for prospective students<br />
and their families this spring.<br />
Husky Hoopla - Saturday, January 20<br />
Become a Husky Fan for the night at one of our basketball<br />
games!<br />
Husky Highlight - Thursday, February 8<br />
Students and their families are invited to attend this special<br />
evening open house. The program will begin with a general<br />
information session covering financial aid, scholarships, and<br />
the admissions process. Prospective students will also have<br />
the opportunity to meet with faculty and students from their<br />
areas of interest. Husky Highlight is a great way to gain<br />
valuable information on the academic programs at HBU.<br />
Spring Preview - Friday and Saturday, March 23-24<br />
At HBU’s Spring Preview, prospective students and their<br />
families can get an up-close view of life as a Husky. Student<br />
representatives from a variety of organizations and faculty<br />
are available to share information and answer questions.<br />
Prospective students can also experience a night in the<br />
residence colleges, sharing a room with a current student<br />
host. Preview Weekend is also a great chance to meet<br />
other future students and start making those all-important<br />
connections.<br />
