Council members joined together<br />
to interact with fellow members,<br />
administration and Dr. Robert<br />
and Sue Sloan, the <strong>University</strong>’s<br />
new president and first lady, at the<br />
group’s October luncheon. Bob<br />
Beauchamp MS ’87, president<br />
and CEO of BMC Software a<br />
computing and information<br />
systems company, was the guest<br />
speaker. Beauchamp addressed the<br />
impact of innovation in business<br />
and in education. Beauchamp<br />
was introduced by Jeff Love, and<br />
Bill Flores MBA ’85 gave the<br />
invocation.<br />
Notable first-time attendees<br />
included Ed Jones of the Mabee<br />
Foundation, Larry Faulkner,<br />
president of <strong>Houston</strong> Endowment,<br />
and the Honorable Yoshihiko<br />
Kamo, Consul General of<br />
Japan. The event was generously<br />
underwritten by the Tom and Pat<br />
Powers Foundation. The luncheon<br />
series is hosted by the Presidential<br />
Leadership Council and is a way<br />
to thank businesses for their<br />
commitments and to give them an<br />
insider’s view of developments at<br />
the <strong>University</strong>.<br />
