Aging Services
of California
Honors Don King
Aging Services of California (ASC)
is honoring RHF Board Chair Don
King as Trustee of the Year.
In 1979, as a result of his own
mother’s advancing age and seeing
the lack of quality facilities for
seniors, Don King became
involved with the Cathedral
Pioneer Church Homes as a volunteer. He soon took on the
leadership role of President for that Board and oversaw the boards
of Pioneer House, Pioneer Towers and Trinity House, which
represented a total of 256 residential apartments, 86 assisted living
units and 79 skilled nursing care beds.
Don has served on RHF’s National Board of Directors since being
elected in 1987, taking on the role of Vice-Chair in 1994 and
becoming Chair in 2005. He continues to serve Pioneer House
and Pioneer Towers.
Throughout his years of service, he has actively pursued many
opportunities to learn more about the aging services field and has
become involved in the ASC and AAHSA, attending many of
their conferences. He has been called upon by AAHSA to be on a
governance panel and is currently enrolled, with RHF’s
CEO, in the AAHSA Governance Series.
