Windshields:
Repair Instead of
Replace
Winter weather can make your windshield
more vulnerable to cracking. Small cracks can
quickly turn into big ones if you don’t get them
fixed right away. Keep this in mind:
■ Repairs typically take about 30 minutes — a
lot less time and hassle than it takes to
get a total replacement.
■ Repairing it keeps one more windshield out
of a landfill.
■ Because repairs are less expensive than
replacement, USAA will cover the cost of a
repair without charging a deductible.
The NHTSA offers these
suggestions to make sure
other drivers see you:
■ Don’t ride in a car’s
blind spot.
■ Anticipate what may
happen more than other
vehicle drivers may.
■ Be extra careful and
aware at intersections,
where most motorcycle
crashes occur.
messaging and admit to
reading text messages while
cruising down the road.
Drivers between the ages
of 18 and 34 who admit to
texting behind the wheel.
Americans who think it’s
distracting and dangerous and
should be outlawed.
Washington became the first state in the nation
to ban the practice. Others are quickly following suit.
■ Use your headlights, day
and night.
Until recently, reflective
decals and bright clothing
offered the best way to
stand out after sunset. Today,
helmet manufacturers are
putting high-visibility lights
into their products to really
make riders shine. Insist on
a helmet that meets federal
safety standards.
