February Support Staff Employee of the
Month:
Darlene Jones
Hendricks Elementary School is proud to nominate Darlene Jones as the Support Staff Employee of
the Month.
Darlene is a breath of fresh air! She is always willing to help with whatever needs to be done and goes
out of her way to help even when it’s not in her “job description.” She has a huge heart and is a huge
asset to the Hendricks team!
Darlene gets along with all members of the Hendricks community, and all of the Flowing Wells community
as well. Her friendly and supportive manner serves her well as she works with all departments.
She is approachable, helpful, friendly and always follows through with all tasks and concerns brought to her attention.
She became our default computer technician during the fall semester when we were without a computer technician. She substituted in
the computer lab when necessary, created her own lesson plans, and troubleshooted for individual teachers whenever computer
glitches would arise.
Darlene routinely asks teachers for additional work if she is caught up with her front office responsibilities. Her loyalty for Hendricks, and
the entire Flowing Wells community, is without question. She is a trusted colleague who always operates with the utmost professionalism
in all situations. You will never hear her speak unkindly or negatively about anyone.
She contributes in countless ways, whether it is making connections with community partners, pitching in with our technology issues, co
-chairing the Hendricks Sunshine Committee, taking care of all major communications or providing a supportive shoulder to a colleague.
She has even taken over the running of our Ben’s Bells program.
Finally, Darlene has shared “Chatty Cathy” with the Hendricks community during our Dr. Seuss Celebration, Halloween and sometimes
spontaneously when we need a laugh. Chatty Cathy is always good for a heartfelt laugh and a reminder of the importance of humor in
all of our lives. Who is this Chatty Cathy you might ask Well, she is Darlene’s alter ego who is a cute, funny, pig tailed, precocious
toddler who loves her footsy pajamas, teddy bear and pacifier. She sees the humor in life and just can’t understand why she can’t be
the center of everyone’s universe.
Outstanding Volunteer of the Year:
Jessica Devoy
Hendricks Elementary is proud to nominate Mrs. Jessica Devoy as our Volunteer of the Year.
The Devoy family recently moved to one of our neighboring school districts but has chosen to continue to
have their children attend the Flowing Wells School District. Two of their children, Brandon and Jade,
attend Hendricks Elementary and Marcus attends the Emily Meschter Early Learning Center. They love
our schools and choose to have their children continue their education with us.
Jessica is very involved in her children’s education and is always very supportive of her children’s classroom teachers and volunteers in
their classrooms when needed. She will help out in the front office and spends countless hours in the Volunteer Center always making
sure teachers and staff have everything they need. No job is too small or too big for her. She helps by preparing materials for bulletin
boards, completes special projects for teachers and helps to keep the volunteer center clean and organized. If she hears about something
that needs to be done, she is the first to volunteer. We are truly fortunate to have Jessica be a member of our Hendricks community.
Jessica is very active in our Hendricks PTO and heads up our Grandparents Week each year. Coordinating and organizing our week
long Grandparents week is Jessica’s biggest yearly project, which she does successfully with a smile on her face. Each year Hendricks
has well over 300 grandparents join us for this special time. She puts in countless hours to make sure that we have enough parent
volunteers, decorations, accurate lists of students involved and commemorative pictures for each special guest. Her efforts help create
lifelong memories for our students as well as their families.
Finally, Jessica is known as a super shopper. She can find a deal for anything at anytime of the year. She loves to go shopping for us,
which we truly appreciated.
Congratulations, Jessica for being named Hendricks Elementary School’s outstanding Volunteer of the Year

“Grad Night is rapidly approaching and the theme this year is
“Wanted”. Décor will center on a Wild West Theme. As you know Grad
Night is an event that relies solely on donations and volunteers. The construction
of “sets” is a time consuming and expensive process.
The Grad Night Committee is hoping that someone in the District might
have a connection to Old Tucson and could help the committee to gain access
to some of their portable sets/props. They would be needed for about a
week (set up, the event and take down). Everything will be lovingly cared
for and returned in the same condition in which it was loaned.
Can you help If so, please contact Celia Ayer at 696-8001.
Attention all clubs, classroom teachers, PTO’s, any before/afterschool
programs and yes, even school departments!!
Here’s your chance to do some fundraising for your cause and help with the Flowing Wells Educational
Mini-Grant program. If you host a booth at F.U.T.S. your club will earn 50% of the proceeds
and 50% will go towards the Mini-Grant program. Checks will be awarded to each activity sponsor
and they can spend the funds any way they see fit.
All booths need to be self sufficient, which includes table (booths), chairs, extension cords
(25 ft. in length) , etc. You may submit a work order to maintenance (attn: Mike Siegert) for tables,
chairs, extension cords. If you plan on hosting a food booth, you must have a food permit (obtainable at
Pima County Health Department).
If you are interested in hosting a booth, please complete the form below and submit it to Lety
Granados in HR as soon as possible.
