GÜDEL acquires
automation software company
ABplan GmbH becomes part of GÜDEL Group AG
Langenthal, November 2012. ABplan GmbH in Ainring, Germany, a member of the Inductotherm
Group, has been acquired by GÜDEL Group AG with effect from 01 October 2012. ABplan
GmbH will become a group company known as GÜDEL Controls GmbH.
According to GÜDEL Group CEO Rudolf Güdel, ABplan offers the perfect complement to the
product and capability portfolios of the group and therefore will continue its work from its base
near Munich, Germany, in inclusion of all existing staff. The GÜDEL Group shares ABplan’s values of
responsibility, respect, transparency and quality, and will integrate and continue to operate ABplan’s
business in this spirit.
ABplan shares and complements GÜDEL Group’s deep expertise in the development and delivery
of large-scale projects for the automotive and metal-working sectors, as well as others. In the future
the ABplan team will particularly reinforce the group’s capabilities and capacity in software development.
On completion of the transaction, GÜDEL Group’s CEO Rudolf Güdel said: «With GÜDEL Controls
we put the dynamic relationship with enjoy with our customers on an even more sustainable
footing. We are happy to welcome Controls into our Group and are very much looking forward to
a successful collaboration with our new team members.»
Gary Doyon, CEO of Indoctotherm Group, added: “The ABplan Team is finding a new home that
will be more closely linked with their core strengths and expertise. We wish the team a continuation
