Attention: New Parish
W
e were planning to have an insert for past and new
members for the Pictorial Directory this fall; however, we
do not have the minimum number of twenty, as required. If the
committee has missed phoning you, please give Ron Morgan a
call at 705-324-2318.
At the present time, it does not appear that this will happen.
GIFT/SHOPPING
CARD PROGRAM
Kay Smith and Bill Witham
O
nce again we are
promoting the gift card
program at St. Paul’s. At a
time when church revenues
are decreasing and expenses are on their way up, fund raising
fills an essential need. We raise funds in various ways but one
of the easiest methods is through the use of gift cards. Why
Because the use of these cards does not reduce your
income. You get full value for the amount you purchase and
the church gets a percentage without it costing you anything. I
see an entrepreneur in Niagara Diocese is now offering a
whole gamut of cards to churches where they only purchase
what they have buyers for. They do not have to order a large
quantity and then have to sell them to realize the discount. Of
course, the discount they realize is considerably smaller than
what we get. The entrepreneur has to get his cut. Our
approach to this program is quite unique. We purchase in
conjunction St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and St. Mary’s
Roman Catholic Church, ecumenism at work in a practical
manner. And whereas the program at the other two churches is
far more extensive than St. Paul’s, we have managed to earn
over $50,000 in the past three years.
So if you have not yet joined this band wagon it is time you did.
You can get your groceries at Loblaws, Valumart, National
Grocers, LaMantia’s, or Food Basics; your household and
personal needs at Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, Shopper’s
Drug Mart or Giant Tiger, your gasoline at Canadian Tire or
Loblaws or you can eat out at Tim Horton’s, Kelsey’s, Smitty’s
or the Swiss Chalet.
Many of the congregation have signed on. When the rest do,
fund raising will become a dream.
The task ahead of us is never as
great as the Power behind us.
