WORDS FROM WARREN
The Reverend Warren Leibovitch
Incumbent
Dear friends,
I cannot believe how fast the last four months have gone for me, a vacation plus three months of a Sabbath (sabbatical) leave!
I had lots of plans and hopes for my first break in thirteen years. Many were accomplished, a few I still hope to do.
A Sabbath leave is a combination of professional development and rest. While I was off I read several books, some on congregational
development and Social Media, and some books for spiritual food.
Also while on Sabbath leave, I was able to attend a conference in Alexandria, Virginia, at the Virginia Theological Seminary.
The title of the conference was called-"eFormation: Faith for a connected, digital world”. Participating in workshops and networking
opportunities was Clergy, Christian education professionals and communicators. Presenters focused on ways to integrate social media,
online tools and electronic resources into church ministry. Participants learned about creating effective videos, web conferencing, tips
for blogging and much more.
Other goals of my Sabbath leave were to attend other churches and/or visit clergy to discuss their styles of worship and types of
programs they have created for those parishes.
Over the next few months I will attempt to share my insights and information through informal meetings, and possibly in some sermons.
Now summer is over, it is time to get back on track and focus on the busy fall season ahead of us! Sunday school begins September
8th, Welcome Back Sunday September 15th, the Lindsay Fair September 18-22, and Harvest Happenings and Mystery Dinner in
October. I hope to have a day away with the Advisory board in October – a “Planning / Vision Day”. I also hope to set up a leadership
training series with the support of Canon Phil Bristow to train current and hopeful group leaders for the coming year. The date will be
set in late in October. Watch for further information.
If you are new to the parish, I look forward to getting to know you now that I am back from my time off. Please take a moment to
introduce yourself to me!
May God guide us and empower us as we begin a very busy year!
Blessings and peace,
