THE WELLAND<br />
CANALS<br />
PARKWAY TRAIL<br />
This trail follows <strong>the</strong> canal<br />
along its west bank from<br />
St. Cathar<strong>in</strong>es through<br />
Thorold, Welland, and<br />
<strong>Port</strong> <strong>Colborne</strong>. In Thorold,<br />
<strong>the</strong> path cross to <strong>the</strong><br />
“Thorold Island” created<br />
between <strong>the</strong> old third<br />
canal and <strong>the</strong> current<br />
fourth canal. In Welland,<br />
it follows <strong>the</strong> old fourth<br />
canal through <strong>the</strong> city and<br />
is paved on both sides<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> canal. The trail<br />
zig-zags across <strong>the</strong> canal<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>Port</strong> <strong>Colborne</strong> until<br />
it meets <strong>the</strong> Friendship<br />
Trail at Seaway Park.<br />

TRAIL<br />
This section <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Trans Canada Trail runs<br />
13 kilometres from <strong>the</strong><br />
western boundary <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Port</strong> <strong>Colborne</strong>, across <strong>the</strong><br />
south <strong>of</strong> Wa<strong>in</strong>fleet to Haldimand<br />
County, parallel to<br />
<strong>the</strong> Lake Erie shore. This<br />
unpaved trail connects<br />
several conservation areas<br />
<strong>in</strong> Wa<strong>in</strong>fleet, and is an<br />
excellent location for bird<br />
watch<strong>in</strong>g and spott<strong>in</strong>g<br />
wildlife. Ideal for bik<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
hik<strong>in</strong>g, and horseback<br />
rid<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>the</strong> Gordon Harry<br />
trail appeals to nature<br />
lovers <strong>of</strong> all ages. For<br />

trail courtesy is for<br />
all trail users to pass<br />

• Carry out everyth<strong>in</strong>g that you carry <strong>in</strong>, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g wrappers,<br />
