My wife and I cannot speak highly enough of the Kerby Centre. We
were welcomed by the staff members and pleasantly surprised by the
comfortable surroundings. We were impressed with the security they
have in place. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to see
that our needs are met. During the week days a hot lunch is supplied
and we had access to the kitchen to make our own breakfast and
supper. This is a safe and very private place to be in. A good place for

Although, Malcolm, 74 had minimal English skills, he recently came to Canada with hopes of
settling into a quiet and peaceful retirement. His dream soon diminished as he was unable
to secure employment or housing, and was forced to live on the streets often fearing for his
safety and health. Upon arrival at the Kerby Rotary Shelter, Malcolm embraced the calm
setting, the supportive and nurturing guidance of the shelter staff, and soon created a
strong circle to meet his needs as an older adult. Today Malcolm enjoys safe, affordable
housing, living out his retirement. –Shelter Staff

This past Easter, one of the shelter residents took the initiative to bring all those housed in
the shelter together to share in a meal. A local grocer was approached with this selfless
appeal which moved him to provide all that was needed for 14 residents to enjoy in a feast.
Everyone pitched in and took part in the preparation. As they ate dinner together, sharing
in laughter and stories, for this moment in time, they were a family. – Shelter Staff
