Instructions to Registration of Courses (PHY) Semester 1 AY 2012/2013
1. You are advised to read the instructions to courses registration posted in STARS. Please refer to STARS
for the schedule of registration.
2. For all programmes and study years from admission year 2010 and before, the normal load is 18 AU
and the maximum load is 24 AU. For admission year 2011 onwards, the normal load is 17 AU and the
maximum load is 20 AU. When you are registering a course that will exceed your normal load, you can
only do so after 5pm on your course registration day. If you wish to read a course that will exceed your
maximum load, you can obtain the overload form (blue form) from SPMS General Office. You should
submit the overload application after the result of GER-PE and UE allocation is known. Please note that
approval is granted to a specific course that you wish to overload.
3. The following courses are to be read during Semester 1 AY 2012/2013 (subject to pre-requisites).
Students with Admission Year 2012 will have their core courses allocated during the online
8. Students who will be taking PAP319 in AY2012/2013 Semester 1 are to email their preferred groups to
Ms Lim See Har – MSHLim@ntu.edu.sg with their name, study year and matriculation number before
the add/drop period starts.
9. Students with Admission Year 2012 who are not allocated with Core Courses after they matriculate
online may write in to SPMSUndgrad@ntu.edu.sg
10. Students with Admission Year 2012 who are intending to take up higher level courses whereby the
pre-requisites are fulfilled through exemptions are to write in to SPMSUndgrad@ntu.edu.sg.
Exemptions will only be updated after the add/drop period and will only be reflected at the end of the
semester, together with semester results release.
11. Students who are interested may take graduate courses as prescribed electives or unrestricted
electives. A minimum CGPA of 4.00 is required for the application. Students will be required to
fulfill at least 10 AU of level 4 [excluding PAP491 Final Year project (10 AU) or PAP493 Industrial
Internship II (10 AU)] and above courses as part of their graduation requirement under Major PE.
Graduate course information may be found from
of registered courses in the overseas university and results slip/transcript (if available).
13. Students who have completed all the UE requirement and wish to read more electives may obtain an
appeal form (pink form) from SPMS General Office. You should submit the overload application after
the result of GER-PE and UE allocation is known, unless your UE in balance is currently 0. Please note
that approval is granted to a specific course that you wish to overload.
14. Students who are currently completing or have completed the minor in Entrepreneurship are not
allowed to take up MPS812. They are to replace MPS812 with another course from the Human
Resource Management topic. Such students will have to inform the School once they have registered
the replacement course.
15. Students who are taking up the minor in Entrepreneurship courses are advised to plan their load
carefully as the minor courses will be registered at a later stage and may cause undue overloading.
There is no guarantee that the overload will be approved and the student could continue with the
minor when such case arises.
