442 Music History II (1750 - present) (3 hours)<br />

This course is a study of the development of music from the beginning of the Classical period to the present<br />

with stylistic analysis of musical examples.<br />

462 Conducting (3 hours)<br />

Prerequisite: Musc 242<br />

The knowledge of baton techniques, reading and interpreting a musical score, and the presentation of<br />

techniques of rehearsing instrumental organizations are stressed in this course.<br />

201 Introduction to Philosophy (3 hours)<br />

This course is an introduction to the main fields in philosophy, with special attention to theory of knowledge,<br />

ethics, political theory, and aesthetics. Major thinkers in the Western tradition will be discussed.<br />

312 Ethics in Practice (3 hours)<br />

This course focuses on the applications of ethical principles across the whole range of life activities ranging<br />

from business to medicine, from education to terrorism, and from animal welfare to research.<br />

322 The World’s Religions (3 hours)<br />

This course provides an introduction to the world’s major religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism,<br />

Taoism, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Central to the understanding of each will be knowledge of:<br />

location and history of the origins of the faith, especially in relation to world history; the difference between<br />

philosophy and religion, and where each fits; basic theological concepts; and social teachings. Dual listed as<br />

Soc 222.<br />

100 Introductory Physics (5 hours)<br />

This is a condensed comprehensive survey of Newtonian and Modern Physics. Topical focus includes<br />

energy, mechanics, heat, electricity, sound, light, atomic structure and relativity. This class includes<br />

required lectures, recitation, and laboratory components.<br />

201 General Physics I (5 hours)<br />

Prerequisites: Math 114 or equivalent.<br />

The topics of mechanics, sound, and heat are included in this mathematically-based physics course. This<br />

class includes required lectures, recitation, and laboratory components.<br />

202 General Physics II (5 hours)<br />

Prerequisites: Physics 201 or permission.<br />

The topics of light, electricity, and magnetism are included in this mathematically-based physics class. This<br />
