Milking Equipment
All Stainless Steel Coburn Plate Coolers yield energy savings and highest quality
milk. Use of the proper size Plate Cooler can lower milk temperature to within 3 degrees
of water temperature, extending the life of the bulk tank compressor. Plate Coolers
prevent mixing of warm milk with cool milk thus improving milk quality in the bulk
tank. Coburn Coolers are in full compliance with the requirements of applicable 3-A
Sanitary Standards.
All models feature solid sanitary stainless steel end plates and cooling plates in type
316 stainless steel. Fluted edges on the plates guarantee tight fit, perfect alignment and
protection from leaks. Nitrile rubber gaskets are resistant to oil and fats. Bolts are
stainless steel.
Plate Coolers are installed between the receiver and the bulk tank, with the milk
inlet and outlet on opposite sides for easier in-line placement. They are designed to be
cleaned in place or they may be disassembled for additional cleaning. Plate Coolers may
be customized with additional cooling plates to increase capacity.
MINI MODELS
MINI Models have 15mm thick end plates and cooling plates made of type 316
stainless steel. Milk connections are 1.5” ferruled and water connections are 1” NPT.
Plate Coolers measure 26” high by 8” wide; depth varies with number of plates. Our
9022S Stainless Steel Filter Screen with gasket (See Index) is highly recommended for
filtering out solids and reducing cleaning chores. Optional Solenoid Valve adds the
convenience of automatic on/off of water flow and also conserves water. All MINI
models, both single and dual pass, include heavy duty mounting brackets.
Dual Pass Model brings a fresh charge of cool water as milk passes through second
half of the unit thus doubling the cooling effect. Many dairymen prechill the water for
additional cooling. Second water line enters from above and behind
the unit.
Precision made, heavy duty brass Solenoid Valve for MINI
Model coolers connects to milk pump and shuts water off and
on with milk pump to conserve water. 1” NPT, 2 lbs.

MEDI MODELS
MEDI mid-size Models have 20mm thick stainless steel
end plates. Milk connections are 2” ferruled and water connections
are 2” NPT. Plate Coolers measure 31” high by 13” wide; depth varies
with number of plates. Includes adjustable stainless steel legs for leveling and placing
the unit at the correct height for the milk and water lines. Our 9023S Stainless Steel
Filter Screen with gasket (See Index) is recommended.
MAXI MODELS
MAXI largest-size Models also feature 20mm thick end plates. Milk connections are
2” ferruled and water connections are 2” NPT. Plate Coolers measure 39” high by 13”
wide; depth varies with number of plates. Includes adjustable stainless steel legs for
leveling and placing the unit at the correct height for the milk and water lines. Our

MODELS & SPECIFICATIONS
Optimum performance is achieved at approximately a 3:1 water to milk ratio,
but lower ratios will still result in significant cooling. Ambient temperature,
water temperature, water pressure and other variables may alter results from
those shown here. Water pressure should not exceed 87 psi (6 Bars).
