TOP CHEFS SIGN UP FOR FONTERRA FOODSERVICES<br />
PROUD TO BE A CHEF <strong>2010</strong><br />

A line-<strong>up</strong> of <strong><strong>to</strong>p</strong> international and Australian <strong><strong>chef</strong>s</strong> has <strong>be</strong>en unveiled <strong>to</strong> host the master class<br />
sessions as part of Fonterra Foodservices Proud <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> a Chef <strong>2010</strong>.<br />
The list includes celebrity <strong>chef</strong> Eric Teo, from Mandarin Oriental, Singapore; Melbourne’s Shane<br />
Delia, co-owner of iconic Maha Bar and Grill; and Peter Howard, one of Australia’s most wellregarded<br />
food and wine experts.<br />
Thirty lucky third and fourth year apprentice <strong><strong>chef</strong>s</strong> who secure a place in the Fonterra Foodservices Proud<br />
<strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> a Chef <strong>2010</strong> program, will participate in two days of master classes with the three world-class <strong><strong>chef</strong>s</strong>.<br />
One selected apprentice also receives the major prize: a once in a lifetime opportunity of a two week<br />
internship at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore under the guidance of Eric Teo.<br />
Shane Delia, co-owner and <strong>chef</strong> of Maha Bar and Grill will host one of the program’s master classes and<br />
said he is <strong>proud</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> involved in a program that nurtures young talent, giving apprentice <strong><strong>chef</strong>s</strong> an<br />
opportunity <strong>to</strong> learn outside of their normal working environment.<br />
“Fonterra Foodservices Proud <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> a Chef is about creating an environment of openness, where<br />
apprentice <strong><strong>chef</strong>s</strong> can share ideas, develop their understanding of food and push their culinary skills <strong>to</strong> the<br />
absolute limit,” he said.<br />
“There is nothing like a little competition <strong>to</strong> make you extend yourself and sometimes you can achieve<br />
things you never knew you could - competition is a great motiva<strong>to</strong>r.”<br />

inspiring <strong><strong>chef</strong>s</strong>.<br />

<strong>be</strong> a Chef, and get their hands on a ‘money-can’t-buy’ opportunity <strong>to</strong> learn from some of the industry’s<br />
greatest innova<strong>to</strong>rs,” he said.<br />
Entry is open <strong>to</strong> apprentice <strong><strong>chef</strong>s</strong> aged 18 or older, enrolled in their third or fourth year of a culinary<br />
course anywhere in Australia or New Zealand as at 1 March <strong>2010</strong>. Applicants must <strong>be</strong> either Australian or<br />
New Zealand citizens or hold an eligible Australian or New Zealand work visa.<br />
The successful applicants <strong>for</strong> Fonterra Foodservices Proud <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> a Chef <strong>2010</strong> master classes will <strong>be</strong><br />
announced in early Decem<strong>be</strong>r, 2009.<br />
