Subject
Change of Diesel Pump to Various Diesel Units.
Introduction
Piusi have concluded manufacturing the common Diesel pump named the ‘BP2000’ or ‘DIESEL PUMP 2000’ this
item has been superseded by the ‘BP3000’ pump. When a BP2000 pump is replaced with a BP3000 pump some
difficulty can be experienced when retro fitting. The following document contains information to assist in
retrofitting a new pump to tanks plumbed for BP2000 pumps.
Description
There are two main options for replacing the pump on a transfer unit that was originally factory fitted with a BP2000
pump. The simplest solution is to replace the pump with a Selecta bare economy pump (382-009) which of similar
design will fit without any extra fittings or changed to plumbing. The second option is to replace using the BP3000
pump that is made with a completely new design and shape which enables improved performance and flexibility.
The BP3000 pumps inlet/outlet are located on the same side of the pump head and utilise special connectors instead
of the ¾” BSP ports used on the BP2000 pump. The BP3000 has an open flow capability of transferring 45L/min
compared to 40L/min open flow with the BP2000.
Warranty Detail
Where an approved warranty claim has been processed; the warranty department will issue a BP3000 pump with
appropriate fittings to replace a faulty pump and connect a BP3000 pump to the diesel tank
Additional Details
The BP2000 and 382-009 pumps feature (3/4” BSP) inlet and outlet on opposite sides of the pump head the as
shown below). The B3000 inlet and outlet are on the same sides of the pump head. The arrangement of inlets and
outlets on the BP3000 means that the final plumbing will be different than the original product.
Outlet Inlet
The two hose tail fittings attach to the pump in a simmilar manner to hydraulic fittings. There is
a o-ring inside the inlet/outlet ports on the head of the pump. The Hosetail slides into the port and
seals against the o-ring; once the hose-tail is in place it is locked firmly in position by the two half
plates which are screwed down against the pump housing. The Flange fitting is screwed down against the inlet/outlet
port with the supplied o-ring between the pump and fitting for an effective seal. See the below example of both a
hose tail and flange fitting connected to the pump.
BP2000 and 382-009 BP3000
The BP3000 utilises three different fittings as shown.
Code: F16172000 Straight 19mm hose tail (two hose tails) plus the half
plates and screws required to install to the pump.
Code: F16173000 90º Hose tail 19mm (one hose tail) plus the half plates
and screws required to install to the pump.
Code: F16178000 Flanged 1” BSP threaded elbow (one elbow) plus o-ring
and screws required to install to the pump.

The BP3000 however has more flexibility as the base plate can be fitted to the four sides of the motor and the
electric switch can also be fitted in four orientations allowing the pump to be installed into smaller areas than the
BP2000 pump.
All configurations detailed in this bulletin are with the pump being connected to tanks via the
two holes identified below.
Switch box can fit to the motor in four
different orientations as required to suit the
users plant or specific needs.
The Base plate can also be fitted to four
sides of the electric motor which now
allows the pump to be fitted in smaller areas
as the plumbing only needs to access one
side of the pump.

Guide to retrofitting pump
As there are no changes to plumbing or extra fittings required when fitting a 382-009 pump the following guide only
details how to retrofit the BP3000 pump to each product that Selecta offers with the BP2000 pump. For each
product a list has been provides of parts required to fit the new pump and a reference photo or diagram how we
suggest the pump to be plumbed. When screws from the older pump are used to attach the BP3000 to mounting
points on the tank (do not over tighten the screws for risk of stripping the thread or creating holes in the tank). You
may need to change the orientation of the pumps base plate and switch box to match photos and diagrams shown. As
many diesel units are supplied with a 4 meter delivery hose with swaged ends, you may need to cut off the end of
the hose and fit a (187-HS12) hose clamp to connect a delivery line to the pumps outlet; in this guide hose clamps
have not been mentioned as some users will be able to reuse their existing clamps and hose.
Was the tank modified to better suit the BP3000 pump? YES
Details of the modification:
To allow for neater plumbing of the BP3000, Silvan added two additional
mounting points to the tank that use a different screw, yet both the current and
older tanks will both allow the BP3000 to be fitted. Older tanks however require
additional fittings for connection to Low-Profile tanks. It is suggested that users
compare their tanks to the photo shown (on right) to determine which way they
would like to connect the pump.
Option 1 to Retrofit using the older mounting holes on the tank use the following components.
F16173000 2 Curved hose tail 19mm
Connect the pump as per Option 1 for the SQDN200-1.
Fit the two elbows to the pump except this time position the outlet as
shown so that it can be directed up towards the litre meter.
Aim the outlet up towards the
Litre meters inlet.
Option 2 to retrofit using the new mounting holes on the tank which will orientate the pump in the same direction as
the current –X2 models from manufacturing use the following components. For reference see photo of how the new
production units are to be plumbed.
Code: Qty: Description:
hose tails)
SQKHI/LO2 2 Screws
WM6FT 2 Washer
PF0225-33 0.6 Diesel Hose
Fit the two straight hose tails into the pump and fit hose to inlet and outlet.
The 0.6m hose from the outlet must run to the inlet on the litre meter (see
back of meter to identify the inlet)
Note: Older transfer units litre meters where plumbed with a different
inlet/outlet configuration to that of the meter shown on the right. Ensure that
you confirm the direction of flow through the meter before attaching any
fittings.
Fit the pump in the same location as the BP2000 pump using the two
screws (SPKHI/LO3) as used by the older pump. You may have some
difficulty getting the screws to go through the holes in the base plate of
the pump. This can be remedied by placing the pump on a work bench
and drilling out the hole slightly or by using a spanner to work the
screw through the base plate before you fit it to the tank.
To improve how the BP3000 pump is
plumbed to the tank some additional
mounting points where added to allow this
pump to be fitted via a base plate. It is
however still possible to connect the pump
to older model tanks.

Due to how the original product was plumbed there currently isn’t a viable way to plumb a BP3000 pump
to this tank and meter, as the litre metre will not be properly supported to the tank. For instances where
pump replacement is required on this product model a 382-009 pump needs to be fitted using the same
plumbing arrangement as the original product.
