Hong Kong <strong>Neonatal</strong> <strong>Resuscitation</strong> <strong>Program</strong> (HK-<strong>NRP</strong>)<br />

The Hong Kong <strong>Neonatal</strong> <strong>Resuscitation</strong> <strong>Program</strong> (HK-<strong>NRP</strong>), jointly organized<br />

by the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians, Hong Kong Paediatric Nurses<br />

Association and the Hong Kong Association of <strong>Neonatal</strong> Medicine will be<br />

starting to train our <strong>NRP</strong> Providers in accordance with the curriculum of the<br />

American Academy of Pediatrics/ American Heart Association. It is the first<br />

official program recognized by AAP outside the U.S.<br />

The HK-<strong>NRP</strong> Provider Course consists of the following components:-<br />

1. Self Study of the <strong>Neonatal</strong> <strong>Resuscitation</strong> Textbook (with DVD) 6th<br />

Edition<br />

2. Online Examination, passing with 80% correct answers within 30<br />

days before the one-day <strong>NRP</strong> course<br />

3. One-day <strong>NRP</strong> Course of skills training, simulation and debriefing at<br />

our Training Center. It emphasizes on problem solving, team<br />

dynamics and communications during resuscitation.<br />

Those who have successfully completed the cognitive and skills evaluations<br />

in accordance with the <strong>NRP</strong> Curriculum will be issued a <strong>Neonatal</strong><br />

<strong>Resuscitation</strong> <strong>Program</strong> (<strong>NRP</strong>) Provider Card from the American Academy of<br />

Pediatrics, American Heart Association, Hong Kong College of Paediatricians,<br />

Hong Kong Association of <strong>Neonatal</strong> Medicine and the Hong Kong Paediatric<br />

Nurses Association.<br />

The <strong>NRP</strong> Provider Course Fees is HK$ 2,000, which will cover the <strong>Neonatal</strong><br />

<strong>Resuscitation</strong> Textbook (with DVD) (6th Edition), the online Examination<br />

registration fees and the <strong>NRP</strong> Provider Card.<br />

Each one-day HK-<strong>NRP</strong> course could only accommodate 24 trainees. The<br />

trainers are Regional <strong>NRP</strong> Trainers recognized by the AAP and they are<br />

senior neonatologists and neonatal nurses from various hospitals. The plan<br />

is to have one course each month starting July 2012.<br />
