3.6 Tourism
Muzaffarpur has a few locations of regional and local significance. Some of these are
Baba Garibnath Temple
This is one of the famous temples of Lord Shiva. A long history is associated with the establishment
of the temple and the Shivling. Baba Garibnath who had a great sympathy for the poor, established the
temple and one of the great devotes Shri Shivdhari Pathak of Chapra district ensured regular worship
and took care of the temple premises. It is also called as second Baidhnath.
Chaturbhujsthan Temple
Chaturbhuj Temple is famous for its spirituality and faith. In 1303 AD in a village called Turki a big
idol of Lord Chaturbhuj was found. The saint brought the idol, all the way from Turki to Muzaffarpur,
on foot which was a reflection of his faith and worship. "Lord Chaturbhuj" was established beside
"Lord Shiva" under a tree and since then his regular worship started.
Gola Durga Temple
This great temple is an icon of faith, worship and belief in Ma. It is situated on the south coast of
"Gandak" river. Possibly, it was made in the year of 1932 by Darbhanga Maharaj Kamlesh Singh.
Devotees come in masses to worship Goddess Kali.
