Everyone is welcome. Financial assistance is available. The
YMCA of Greater Seattle strengthens communities in King and
south Snohomish counties through youth development, healthy
living and social responsibility.

YMCA ADVENTURE GUIDES PROGRAM
Adventure Guides is an action oriented program
for fathers and children! Father/child pairs form
circles with families in their neighborhood or
school they attend with one or two fathers
serving as the volunteer circle leader. Circles
usually meet once a month for games, crafts,
stories and other activities. The circles are a
part of a larger Expedition which offers
additional activities each month such as
campouts, pine block derbies and other outings.
But best of all, the Adventure Guide program is
just plain fun for both father and child!
Programs are available for 3-5 year olds
(Y-Tykes), K-3rd graders (Y-Guides &
Y-Princesses) and 4th-8th graders (Westerners)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. My children and I are busy and I don’t think
we have time. Can I still be involved in this
program
A. Generally there are 2 events held each
month and families may attend based on
their availability.
Q. When I was a child, I was in Indian Guides
with my dad. Is this the same program
A. Yes. “Indian Guides” was originally
developed in 1926. The Adventure Guides
program maintains the same family values
from the past, while accommodating the
needs of today’s families.
Q. How does the Adventure Guide program
differ from Scouting
A. Many times, scouting is a "drop off"
program. A father's involvement with their
child in scouting is optional and likely rare
with girls. The Adventure Guide program
focuses on strengthening the father-child
relationship through activities that allow
fathers to spend quality time with their
children.
PROGRAM FEES
Facility Members: $15 per person
Program Members: $35 per person
(There are additional fees for some of
the activities you choose to attend)

the Guide & Princess events such as the
Demolition Derby, T-birds & Mariner outings,
Rocket Day and the Science Center overnight.
