the stubbies story<br />
In the summer of 1972, a pair of salesmen from<br />
the clothing manufacturer Edward Fletcher <strong>and</strong><br />
Co met over a slab of beer to brainstorm a punchy<br />
name for their spankin’ new men’s fashion short.<br />
As one might imagine, the thinking didn’t go very<br />
far. The name “<strong>Stubbies</strong>” has come to be a part of<br />
the Australian vernacular for short shorts <strong>and</strong> is a<br />
favoured staple in many Aussie guy’s wardrobe.<br />
Today, <strong>Stubbies</strong> is still recognised as an iconic<br />
Australian br<strong>and</strong> that provides affordable clothing.<br />
