BBS shows 5 per 10 Km in Farml<strong>and</strong> & 7 in “Urban”, similar to 1999.<br />

Noted at only 2 sites in Jan (14 Lecropt on 9th) but 14 in Dec (21 Gart on 12th,<br />

23 Cambuskenneth on 16th & 11 Call<strong>and</strong>er on 18th) (CJH AT NB).<br />

DIPPER Cinclus cinclus (B,W)<br />

Widespread song in Jan.<br />

F 8 on R.Carron, Carron-Bonnybridge 16 Jan (MA).<br />

C 28 on Devon, Alva-Dollar, in Jan (only 8 on 14 Mar); 17 in Nov; also at<br />

rivermouth (Cambus) Jan & Oct/Nov (DE GEL DAC). 1 Blackdevonmouth 6<br />

Nov (AT).<br />

WREN Troglodytes troglodytes (B,W)<br />

Under-recorded (Ed). BBS shows 71 per 10 Km in conifers, 25 on farml<strong>and</strong>, 22<br />

in ‘Urban’ & 1 on moorl<strong>and</strong>. Highest overall total since 1996, up 35% over 1999,<br />

mainly in conifers.<br />

HEDGE SPARROW Accentor modularis (B,W)<br />

Under-recorded (Ed). BBS shows 11 per 10 Km in ‘Urban’, 6 in conifers & 9 in<br />

farml<strong>and</strong>. Overall figures close to 7 year average.<br />

ROBIN Erithacus rubecula (B,W)<br />

Under-recorded (Ed). BBS shows 43 per 10 km in conifers, 16 on farml<strong>and</strong> & 10<br />

in ‘Urban’. Overall figures up 13 % over 1999, but close to 7 year average.<br />

1st autumn song at Airthrey 5 Aug; singing after dark in <strong>Stirling</strong> 14 Nov (CJH<br />

AT).<br />

REDSTART Phoenicurus phoenicurus (B)<br />

1st <strong>of</strong> spring, singing at Lake <strong>of</strong> Menteith 7 May (RAB).<br />

S 38 prs Trossachs colony (36 in 1999), reared 105 Y – later broods affected by<br />

predation by Great Spotted Woodpeckers (HR). Pr with 2Y Braes <strong>of</strong> Doune 9 Jul<br />

(KD). 13 Y fledged from 2 boxes at G.Finglas scheme (DJC).<br />

WHINCHAT Saxicola rubetra (B)<br />

BBS shows 1 per 10 Km on moorl<strong>and</strong>, half the 1999 frequency & a quarter the<br />

seven year average.<br />

1st <strong>of</strong> spring 1 Thornhill 22 Apr & 3 Kinneil on 30th; Skinflats on 7 May,<br />

Fl<strong>and</strong>ers Moss on 12th & Invertrossachs on 13th (SS DT AB DOE).<br />

S Pr + 5Y Killin 8 Jul (PWS).<br />

STONECHAT Saxicola torquata (b,w)<br />

BBS shows 1 per 10 Km on moorl<strong>and</strong> & no other records. Overall close to 7 year<br />

average.<br />

F M Skinflats 8 Oct to 3 Nov & F on 17 Dec (GO). M Kinneil 1 Oct (DT).<br />

C 2 Alloa Inches (Rhind) 28 Dec (AT).<br />

S In breeding season noted at Earl’s Hill, L.Arklet,Thornhill, Fl<strong>and</strong>ers Moss<br />

(pr+3Y), Doune (pr+3Y), G.Ogle (4 prs) (DT SS DP DOE). In winter/autumn at<br />

9 further sites, mainly Trossachs <strong>and</strong> northern hills but also Carron Valley Res,<br />

Kippen Muir, Buchlyvie, Sheriffmuir. (DAC NB GO AB DMB).
