Paris is the capital city of France. It is the centre of business,<br />
entertainment and fashion and is famous for its many beautiful buildings.<br />
The city was first built, hundreds of years ago,<br />
on an island in the middle of the river Seine.<br />
This island is now known as the Ile de la Cité<br />
(Island of the City) and, in the 12th century,<br />
the beautiful cathedral of Notre Dame (Our<br />
Lady) was built on it.<br />
