Brisbane artists
opened ‘Window of
Opportunity’ for people
with cerebral palsy
ARTISTS from throughout Brisbane
and South-East Queensland put their
paintbrushes and palettes to a good
cause to open windows of opportunity
during Cerebral Palsy Awareness
Week in August.
Over 30 well-known artists, politicians
and celebrities transformed recycled
window frames into creative – and
some very valuable – artwork.
The “Art for Art’s Sake: Windows of
Opportunity” exhibition and charity
auction hosted by the Cerebral Palsy
League included works by Jim Olsson,
Don Hill, Robert Coleby and Big
Brother Friday Night Live hosts Mike
Goldman and Bree Amer.
League Event Coordinator, Kristi
O’Connor, said the art auction was a
great success and raised some
$30,000 this year.
“The Art for Art’s Sake concept has
captured the imaginations of many
well-known Queensland artists,” Miss
O’Connor said.
“We had everything from paintings to
sculptures and installation pieces on
display, all based on a recycled
window frame.”
The art auction was presented by
Anthony DJ Rigby Insurance and
Investment Services and AMP
Foundation, which matched funds
raised up to $10,000.
