The club received the United States Professional Tennis Association Midwest Division – 2011Charity Event<br />

of the Year Award – Under $10,000. Superintendent Puchalski recognized the club for their efforts, and<br />

Nancy Alfonso, Forest View Manager, was there to accept the award.<br />

Japanese Red Cross Earthquake Relief Fundraiser<br />

The Forest View Racquet & Fitness club was recognized for donating fifteen hours of court time to<br />

accommodate a fundraiser for Japanese Earthquake relief.<br />

Superintendent Pacheco announced that the Park District received 1 st Place for Integrated Photography<br />

Marketing and Communications Dept. at the 2011 IPRA Agency Showcase. This Showcase is a spirited<br />

competition spotlighting bright ideas exhibited by park, recreation, and conservation agencies.<br />

Steve Neill, Aquatics Facilities Supervisor, was recognized by Jeff Ellis & Associates, Inc. In a letter from<br />

the Sr. VP/COO of Jeff Ellis and Associates, Mr. Neill was identified as making outstanding efforts in taking<br />

a faculty position at the International Aquatic Safety School. Superintendent Gwinnup presented him with<br />

this letter.<br />

President Leno thanked everyone for their work and achievements. There was brief break in the meeting for<br />

refreshments.<br />

<strong>MINUTES</strong><br />

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 24, 2012, were presented.<br />

Commissioner Nesvacil moved to approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 24, 2012, as<br />

presented. Commissioner Whisler seconded the motion and it carried. President Leno abstained.<br />

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE<br />

The Accounts Payable list for disbursement dated February 14, 2012, was presented.<br />

Commissioner Nesvacil moved to approve the Accounts Payable list dated February 14, 2012, in the<br />

following amounts: for the Regular Funds in the amount of $370,058.10; for the Pension Fund in the<br />

amount of $158,384.96; for the Museum Fund in the amount of $2,079.29; for the Nickol Knoll Golf Club<br />

Fund in the amount of $4,228.64; for the Arlington Lakes Golf Club Fund in the amount of $27,435.68; for<br />

the Forest View Racquet & Fitness Club Fund in the amount of $23,040.47; for the Heritage Tennis Club<br />

Fund in the amount of $22,497.62; for the Bond Capital Projects Fund in the amount of $154,466.54; for a<br />

Grand Total of Disbursements in the amount of $762,191.30. Commissioner Naughton seconded the motion<br />

and it carried unanimously.<br />

Commissioner Nesvacil moved to approve the Payroll distribution for the month of January 2012 in the<br />

amount of $687,113.23. Commissioner Whisler seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.<br />

APPROVAL <strong>OF</strong> PURCHASES<br />

Mowing Service Contract<br />

Paul Guza, Superintendent of Maintenance, addressed the Board. He indicated that bid packages were<br />

provided to 45 firms for the Mowing Service Contract bid. The scope of the work in this bid includes<br />

mowing and trimming for 33 weeks at 34 sites throughout the Arlington Heights Park District. Seventeen<br />

bids were opened on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. The lowest responsive, responsible bid was from<br />

Zenith Landscape. Zenith completed the same contract in 2009 and performed at a high level of quality.<br />

Staff also checked references for Zenith Landscape and these references confirmed their continued<br />

acceptable performance record.
