f. Faults are pointed out to the soldier during the inspection<br />

and notes are made by the section/platoon OIC.<br />

g. Once the inspection of the soldier is complete the<br />

inspecting officer turns his/her head to the front,<br />

observes the regulation pause, then steps off on the left<br />

foot and takes two short paces halting with the left foot.<br />

During the inspection the paces are to be taken in quick<br />

time and the arms are not swung.<br />

h. The process is repeated for the next soldier.<br />

i. Once the last soldier in the front rank has been<br />

inspected, the inspection party marches out to the left<br />

flank five paces and wheels around to the rear of the<br />

front rank. The arms are swung.<br />

j. The inspecting officer halts directly behind the last<br />

soldier and conducts an inspection, as detailed<br />

previously, before moving on.<br />

k. Once the right marker has been inspected, the<br />

inspection party moves out to the right flank five paces<br />

and the inspecting officer halts. The section/platoon OIC<br />

marches past (to the left side) the inspecting officer a<br />

further two paces to the right flank and halts. The<br />

inspecting officer then orders ‘ABOUT – TURN’.<br />

l. The section/platoon OIC then orders the centre rank to<br />

attention and the front rank to stand at ease.<br />

m. The section/platoon OIC then orders ‘QUICK – MARCH’<br />

and the process is repeated for the centre and rear<br />

ranks.<br />

n. At the completion of the inspection of the last rank the<br />

OIC marches out five paces, and the section/platoon<br />

OIC marches out seven paces to the right flank. Both halt<br />

but only the section/platoon OIC about turns. The<br />

section/platoon OIC orders the rear rank to ‘STAND<br />

LWP-G 7-7-5, Drill, 2005<br />
