PREFACE<br />

Aim<br />

1. The aim of this publication is to describe Australian Army <strong>drill</strong>.<br />

It also covers selected non-ceremonial <strong>drill</strong> <strong>procedures</strong><br />

frequently used in units.<br />

Level<br />

2. The publication describes <strong>drill</strong> movements and <strong>procedures</strong> for<br />

both the instructor and the soldier. Instructional techniques will<br />

need to be varied to reflect such factors as the level of training<br />

being undertaken, the size of the squad and the experience of<br />

the <strong>drill</strong> instructor.<br />

Scope<br />

3. This publication covers all individual <strong>drill</strong> movements, with and<br />

without arms, and selected <strong>drill</strong> movements up to unit level. It<br />

does not contain safety precautions relevant to the weapons<br />

used in some <strong>drill</strong> movements. Instructors and other personnel,<br />

required to conduct <strong>drill</strong> movements/parades, must be familiar<br />

with the appropriate safety precautions contained in the<br />

relevant weapons pamphlets.<br />
