Varsity Boys Lacrosse<br />
Has Winning Season<br />
It was a great season for <strong>the</strong> Boys Lacrosse<br />
team, who finished with a regular season<br />
record of 7-4. The following players<br />
were nominated <strong>to</strong> WPIAL’s all-section<br />
teams. WPIAL all-section first team:<br />
seniors Brandon Canedy, Jeffrey Steiner,<br />
David Curtis, and junior Devin Kalanish.<br />
Nominated <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> second team was<br />
sophomore Micah Monah. Congratulations<br />
<strong>to</strong> senior David Curtis, who was a finalist<br />
for player of <strong>the</strong> year. The team is coached<br />
by Chris Ortmann, Adam Brownold, and<br />
Connor Brown.<br />
Rowers on <strong>the</strong> Move<br />
Congratulations <strong>to</strong> WT’s rowers for a<br />
great spring season! Rowers traveled <strong>to</strong><br />
Oak Ridge, TN for <strong>the</strong> Midwest Scholastic<br />
Rowing Championship. Rising senior<br />
Allyson Bartlett was part of <strong>the</strong> girls varsity<br />
quad that came in fourth place. In <strong>the</strong> Ohio<br />
Governor’s Cup race, rising juniors Langs<strong>to</strong>n<br />
MacDiarmid and Laing Wise and rising<br />
sophomore Bill Fox comprised <strong>the</strong> boys<br />
novice quad that <strong>to</strong>ok second place. The<br />
team is coached by Dori and Laci Tompa,<br />
and Lucy Tuttle-Smith.<br />
Varsity Girls Lacrosse<br />
on <strong>the</strong> Up and Up<br />
The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team, led by<br />
returning coaches Elizabeth Patterson and<br />
Bill Fitch, is looking forward <strong>to</strong> continuing<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir pattern of improvement. Building<br />
off of last season, <strong>the</strong> team boasted wins<br />
against Greensburg Central Catholic,<br />
Greensburg Salem, and Yough this season.<br />
The team said farewell <strong>to</strong> eight seniors and<br />
looks forward <strong>to</strong> gaining talented freshmen.<br />
Middle School<br />
Lacrosse Teams Have<br />
Strong Seasons<br />
The Girls Lacrosse team had a winning<br />
season, beating out Shady Side Academy,<br />
Ellis, and Sewickley Academy; <strong>the</strong> team was<br />
led by coaches Ashley Lemmon ’01 and<br />
Sierra Laventure-Volz ’05.<br />
The Boys Lacrosse team boasted record<br />
numbers in players and effort. The team<br />
beat Community Day School and Aquinas<br />
Academy and looks forward <strong>to</strong> a strong<br />
2011 – 2012 season. The team is coached by<br />
Jeff Cronauer and Ryan Bopp ’08.<br />
